“This Call Came With a Birth Certificate”
Yesterday, Officer Martek responded to a call with LeRoy Ambulance Service that quickly turned into something no one was expecting. Before anyone could say transport, a baby boy decided he was ready to arrive immediately.
Thankfully, Officer Martek brought more than a badge to the scene. As a mom herself, those instincts kicked in right on cue as she assisted EMT Rachel Hill and Paramedic Christopher Scopano, who handled the surprise home delivery like absolute professionals.
Mom and baby were safely transported to the hospital and are doing great. The teamwork was outstanding, the baby made a memorable entrance, and Officer Martek can now officially add assisted in childbirth to her growing list of on the job experiences.
Welcome to LeRoy, little guy. You skipped the waiting room but picked one heck of a first response team.
