From the LeRoy Police Department – NY, pictured is inside the drivers car post crash
At approximately noon today, Detective Vangalio was traveling southbound on State Route 19 when a northbound vehicle failed to yield while turning west onto Munson Street, causing a collision.
The crash was investigated at the scene, where open beer cans were observed throughout the other involved vehicle. Both Detective Vangalio and the operator of the other vehicle were transported to the hospital for medical evaluation.
After being medically cleared at the hosptial, the operator was taken into custody for DWI. The suspect is a 29-year-old male with two prior DWI convictions. While at the hospital, the suspect was a real treat to deal with. He was argumentative, uncooperative, urinated on the emergency room floor, and required multiple officers to take into custody.
You cannot make this stuff up. The scary part is that these are the people we share the roadway with every day.
Most importantly, Detective Vangalio was not seriously injured. Join us in wishing him a speedy recovery.
