You never say never, but Wellsville girls’ track and field coach Larry Peacock said he doesn’t believe anyone will match or beat the records set by 2025 Wellsville graduate Kayle Oswald.

On Friday night during halftime of the Wellsville basketball game, Oswald was honored for three state championships during a ring ceremony.Kaylee was the NYSPHSAA State Champion in the shot put in 2023, 2024 and 2025 and is the only Wellsville athlete to ever win more than one state championship.

A story John Anderson did on her career:

She currently holds the school record in both the indoor and outdoor shot put and also placed second at states in the shot put for Indoor and fifth at states outdoors in the discus.

Here is the ceremony speech for Kaylee Oswald delivered by Coach Peacock:

“Excellence is not a skill; it’s an attitude.

Tonight, we celebrate a young woman who has embodied that attitude in every arena she’s entered — whether in the pool, on the track, or in the classroom.

Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in honoring our very own Kaylee Oswald — a student-athlete whose name has become synonymous with dedication, resilience, and achievement.

When we talk about greatness, we often think of those who dominate one sport, one season, one moment.

But Kaylee has done something far rarer — she has conquered three seasons, excelling in fall, winter, and spring, and leaving a legacy that will inspire generations of Lions to come.

And tonight, we celebrate a milestone that no other Wellsville athlete has ever reached:

Kaylee is the only athlete in school history to win more than one New York State Championship.”

Fall – Swimming

“In the fall, Kaylee dove into competition as a proud member of the Lady Sea Lions, helping her team secure three Section V championship titles.

She didn’t just participate—she led, becoming a  Wellsville SeaLion school record holding member of the 200 Free relay team, a Section V individual champion in the 100-yard backstroke and a top regional finisher in the 50-yard freestyle.

But Kaylee’s story doesn’t stop at the edge of the pool. When the seasons changed, so did her arena—and her dominance continued.”

Winter – Indoor Track & Field

“When winter arrived, Kaylee traded the pool for the throwing circle — and once again, she made history.

She shattered records in the shot put, setting a new Section V record with a throw of 42 feet, 2.25 inches.

That record still stands today—and it’s just one of two school records she owns.

Kaylee currently holds the school record for both indoor and outdoor shot put.

Her performance wasn’t just about distance; it was about determination, proving that champions aren’t confined to one sport.”

Spring – Outdoor Track & Field

“And then came spring, where Kaylee’s dominance reached its peak.

Over three consecutive years, she claimed New York State Championships in shot put, including a record-breaking throw of 44 feet, 4.75 inches—a mark that erased a record standing since 1989.

She added sectional titles in discus and earned a Section V Sportsmanship Award, showing that true greatness is measured not only in victories but in character.”

Beyond Athletics

“Kaylee’s excellence extends beyond the field. She has maintained High Honor Roll status, served in student council, contributed to the yearbook, and even pursued college-level courses while in high school.

Her ability to balance academics and athletics is a testament to her discipline and vision for the future.”

Looking Ahead

“Kaylee’s journey hasn’t ended yet. She continues her throwing career at Western Michigan University on a track and field scholarship—a well-deserved opportunity to shine on an even bigger stage.”

Closing

“Kaylee Oswald is more than a champion; she is a role model.

Her story reminds us that success is built on hard work, humility, and heart.

As we celebrate her State Championship Ring here tonight, let us honor not just her records and titles, but the example she sets for every student-athlete here at Wellsville.

Congratulations, Kaylee. Wellsville is proud of you — and the best is yet to come,” Coach Peacock concluded.
