From GVCS/Allegany County,
Genesee Valley Central School, in collaboration with the Allegany County Office of Emergency Management, will offer a free EMT certification course for students aged 17 and older from across Allegany County. This program is made possible through a grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission.
The course begins January 12, 2026, and will run after school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 5:00–8:00 p.m., with select Saturdays, 8:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., continuing through early June. Students will complete 165 hours of classroom instruction and 10+ hours of ride-along experience with local EMS providers, meeting New York State requirements for EMT certification.
Upon successful completion of the course and the state exam, students will be credentialed and prepared for employment as EMTs. Registration is limited to the first 12 students who complete all required paperwork.
