Local teachers present and answer questions on our “three-branches of governmnt”
From the LWV Cattaraugus-Allegany,
“The US Constitution is one of the most referenced documents when discussing our country. Yet, there are many misunderstandings about the document which is the blueprint of the operation of our government.
In order to shed light on the Constitution, the League of Women Voters of Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties will present “We The People” on Thursday, November 20,2025.

The program will feature Social Studies teachers from Olean City Schools, Allegany-Limestone Central School and Portville Central Schools. Each teacher will give a short presentation on one of the three branches of government as outlined in our Constitution.
The program, which is free and open to the public, will be offered at the John Ash Community Center, North Barry Street, Olean, NY, starting at 6:30 pm.
“One of the responsibilities of the League of Women Voters is to educate voters about the functions, offices and operations of our government as cited in the Constitution,” Margie McIntosh, President of the Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties League of Women Voters, said. “We The People” is an excellent opportunity to learn about the Constitution” she added.
The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan group, open to men and women, dedicated to informing voters about issues facing our cities, counties, states, and nation.
“We The People” will allow for questions and answers from the public. The program will be moderated by members of the League of Women Voters of Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties.
Light refreshments will be available.”
