Tonight, the established Fillmore boys’ soccer team, the Class D1 champions, take on upstart Avoca-Prattsburgh for the Section V Class D title at 5:30 p.m. in Geneseo to see who moves on to states.

Meanwhile, the Fillmore girls soccer program is back where they wanted to be. Here is a look at the teams and games.

FILLMORE GIRLS

The Fillmore girls’ soccer team had something to prove. After making the state finals in 2023, the team had the No. 1 seed in sectionals and lost to eventual champion Keshequa, 1-0.

This year, once again with the No. 1 seed, the Eagles defeated Northstar Christian Academy in the finals, 2-0 to improve to 18-1 on the season.

Grace Walton (assist) and Tenlee Miller had the goals while Kallie Pasorius had an assist. Fillmore did not allow a shot on goal.

With one Class D bracket, the girls are the Section V Class D champions and advance to the Far West Regionals. They will take on Franklinville. There are no other Section VI Class D schools other than Franklinville (3-13) so Franklinville advances to play Fillmore.

The game is at 11 a.m. Saturday at Geneseo High School.

BOYS SOCCER

When you talk about Avoca-Prattsburgh soccer, the history is not there for the combined sports teams like basketball, baseball, tennis and volleyball, but soccer kicked the door open this year.

The Titans beat Andover/Whitesville, 3-2 in the Section V Class D2 finals on Halloween night.

Andover/Whitesville held a 1-0 lead and the game went into overtime at 2-2 thanks to goals by Evan Obrochta and Jaeden Crowder.

As overtime started, Obrochta took a couple dribbles about 30 yards out on the right side, then drilled the game-winner upper left.

Fillmore, the #2 seed at 18-1 beat Northstar Christian Academy, 1-0 on a goal by Brayden Walton, assisted by James Hillman. Fillmore goalie Jared Boon had seven saves for the win.

The winner of tonight’s game will take on Maple Grove, the only Class D school in Section VI in the Far West Regionals. Maple Grove went 3-5 in their league and have an 8-6 overall record.
