County Legislature issues proclamation
From Allegany County NY,
Recognition of the United States Navy’s Birthday
Whereas, on October 13, 1775, the Continental Congress established the United States Navy, laying the foundation for one of the most formidable maritime forces in history; and
Whereas, for 250 years, the Navy has safeguarded our nation’s interests, defended freedom across the globe, and exemplified honor, courage, and commitment; and
Whereas, the men and women of the United States Navy—active duty, reserve, and civilian—have served with distinction in times of peace and conflict, upholding the values upon which our country was founded; and
Whereas, Allegany County proudly recognizes the dedication and bravery of these individuals, and honors the legacy of service that continues to inspire future generations; and
Whereas, communities across the nation have joined in commemorating this milestone through public ceremonies and Navy League events;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, W. Brooke Harris, Chairman of the Allegany County Board of Legislators, do hereby proclaim October 13, 2025, as the UNITED STATES NAVY 250th ANNIVERSARY and call upon all citizens to honor the service and sacrifice of our Sailors past and present.
W. Brooke Harris, Chairman
Allegany County Board of Legislators
Signed at Belmont, New York, this 8th day of October 2025
