Sheriff Allard: Missing three-year old located by former Bath NY Mayor Tom Drake

The child followed a puppy and was found after a frantic four-hour search

From the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office,

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that at about 11:15am on September 30, 2025, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a missing three-year-old child on County Route 16 in Urbana, New York.  It was reported that the child left the home, possibly following a puppy. 

The Sheriff’s Office, along with the New York State Police, began investigating the report.  K9 Tripp initiated a track while Deputies, Investigators and Troopers began a search.  New York State Forest Rangers responded, organized and directed the search which included Deputies, Troopers, Officers from the Bath, Hammondsport and Corning Police Departments, the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, NYS Parole, NYS ENCON Officers, the Hammondsport and Savona Volunteer Fire Departments, Steuben County SWAT and Jail Emergency Response Teams, New York State Police Aviation Unit, Steuben County Emergency Management and the Steuben County EMS. 

At about 3:30pm, the child, along with Archie, the puppy, were found near Sonora Road in the Town of Bath, by former Savona Village Mayor, Tom Drake.  The child was checked over by EMS and released to his parents.
