No sign of foul play, investigation is underway
From the NYS Police,
On September 22, 2025, the New York State Police in Hornell and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) responded to a report of a body located in Hornell Reservoir on Reservoir Road in the town of Fremont.
The individual, identified as a 79-year-old male, was discovered by two fishermen. No signs of foul play were observed.
The New York State Police were assisted by the Fremont Fire Department and the Hammondsport Fire Department.
The investigation is ongoing.
