Incumbent Mayor Aiello debated Amy Sherburne, a “great night for Olean”
From the League of Women Voters,
“A mission of the League of Women Voters is to provide education so those heading to the polls can be well-informed when doing so. That mission was met during a recent mayoral debate in the City of Olean”, said Sharon Turano, VP of the local League. Thank you to Mayor William Aiello and challenger Amy Sherburne for providing an informative and respectful debate, just as planned and anticipated.
Thank you to both candidates, their families, community members who submitted questions securely online in advance, JCC for the beautiful spaces and technical assistance, the Hatch Cafe at JCC for amazing refreshments, the Olean Police Department for a police presence who thankfully was not needed and many volunteers from the local league that helped the event go smoothly. Thank you to Rich and Anne Lee, co-editors of TAPinto Greater Olean, as media partners. A special thank you to Rich for being the moderator of the Debate.
We were very pleased with the attendance on Wednesday evening, as more than 100 community members came out in person to listen and learn the views and vision of both candidates. Thanks to the Jandoli School of Communication from SBU and TAPinto Greater Olean, the event was live streamed. In addition to those in the Cutco Theater audience, 100+ more people watched in real time. To date, there are more than 1100 views on YouTube. Hint, the debate starts at the 10:50mark
It was a great night for Olean!
