WELLSVILLE – Tickets are still available for the Babcock Movie Theater Preservation Society’s Reel Pulled Pork Dinner. Help restore the Babcock by purchasing a ticket or two or more by May 28th.
The dinner will be available from noon to 2 pm. June 7th at the Grant Duke Hose Company firehall located at 80 Stevens St. It will include a BBQ, pulled pork sandwich, salt potatoes, baked beans, pickle and a brownie. The dinners are for pick-up only and members of the Babcock Movie Theater Preservation Society will deliver them to your car. The cost is a $15 donation.
Proceeds of the fundraiser will be used to further the Society’s efforts to revitalize, restore and reopen the Babcock as a not-for-profit entertainment facility to benefit Wellsville and the greater community. The volunteers have been working since August to reopen the movie theater and this is their first fundraiser. In recent weeks the facility has been cleaned up and painted. The 1940’s popcorn machine has been found and relocated and will be rewired. The group also has plans to revamp the marquee and relight it.
The BMTPS is also getting ready to participate in the Great Wellsville Balloon Rally Parade and to have an information table in front of the theater during the Main Street Festival. There, the public will be able to view a video of the inside of the theater, learn more about the plans for its future and munch a little movie theater popcorn.
Tickets for the Reel Pulled Pork BBQ dinner may be purchased at Hart’s Jewelry, The Wellsville Brewery, Rev’s Needful Things, L’Italia, Community Bank on the Bolivar Rd, from members of the society or by calling Fundraiser Co-Chairperson Tim Colligan at 716-498-6543. This is your chance to help bring back the Babcock.
