The New York State Police have given John Anderson constant updated on the Bolivar incident to make sure the public knows there is no threat to public safety. One injured trooper has left Wellsville’s UR Medical Jones Memorial for further treatment at Strong Memorial for an serious eye injury.
A weapon was discharged but it is not determined yet if it was discharged during the tackling of the suspect or before that. No one was shot.
Troopers also confirmed the female is being treated and has not been charged yet pending further investigation.
Troopers do have body cam footage and video from Crosby’s in Bolivar to assist in the investigation.

On May 17, 2025, at approximately 3:25 P.M, Troopers out of SP Amity located a stolen vehicle in the village of Bolivar.
Troopers performed a vehicle and traffic stop in the parking lot of Crosby’s Gas Station.
During the arrest of a female suspect, she violently resisted and stabbed one trooper just above the eye and another in the head.
In response to the assault, one of the troopers discharged their division-issued firearm, but did not strike the suspect.
The suspect was taken into custody with minor injuries.
The trooper who suffered an eye injury is in serious condition and is being transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The Bureau of Criminal Investigation are assisting, and charges are pending.
No public threat at this time.
