Canisteo-Greenwood Coach Brandon Beers said, “I am so excited for Carson Chaffee. Day in and day out for the last year he has shown up all year long ready to work. He doesn’t just show up to play basketball. He shows up ready to work his hardest no matter what is asked of him. I wish I could say it surprises me but from the first day I met Carson Chaffee I knew he was special. He has amazing athleticism. At 6’3″ he can shoot and handle the ball. He defends the other team’s best players. He is a special talent, and I feel so lucky to get the opportunity to coach him! Knowing Carson I am sure 10th team is not enough. I am sure he is ready to work to become first team next year. I am super proud of you Carson.”
Despite losing talented seniors like Hagadone, Picco, Barkley and Vogel the area is blessed with a ton of underclassmen, and it has coaches and local basketball fans excited for the next couple of years. Avoca-Prattsburgh will return four other starters along with Crowder.
While Fillmore will return four of their five starters. Andover-Whitesville will return their three leading scorers from this past season. Jasper-Troupsburg will return their two leading scorers from a Class D Finalist team. Cuba-Rushford will return several players from this past season.
Canisteo-Greenwood will not only bring back Chaffee but three other starters and their sixth man, Thomas Sirianni, Kevin Sirianni, James Smith & Jackson O’Brien. Thomas Sirianni was selected a Second Team Steuben County All-Star this past season.

“I am very excited to return 6 of our top 7 guys from last year. I don’t think that any of us feel like we reached our goals or what we set out to accomplish last year. We plan on working all off-season to get better. As excited as I am for the season to start, I am also sad. Thomas Sirianni, Kevin Sirianni, Jackson O’Brien, Colton Coates, and Carson Chaffee have represented Canisteo basketball for so long. I really don’t want to have to coach without those guys. They have become family over the last year. I am hoping we get to spend a lot of time together this off-season working to accomplish what we set out to a year ago,” Beers said.
