Three performances: April 4 – 5 – 6
From Wellsville Secondary School,
It is 3 weeks to Wellsville Secondary School’s performance of the musical that’s known for being pink — Legally Blonde!
The 26-member cast is excited to be sharing this gutsy, edgy show with our community, as it is a change from the child-centered musicals that have been done over the past few years. The students look forward to communicating the show’s message to audiences: embrace who you are as you make your mark on the world. Director Matt Warren is proud to be working with the cast. “Wellsville’s theater program has grown substantially over the past few years and we are excited to have a large, dedicated cast ready to put on this popular show.”
Legally Blonde is the story of Elle Woods, a pink-clad, chihuahua-carrying sorority girl who is determined to follow her ex-boyfriend, Warner Huntington III, to Harvard to win him back. There, she discovers he is engaged to snobby Vivienne Kensington. With the support of her sorority sisters, she boldly faces the challenges of lost love, bias and law school. Along the way, she makes a new friend in hair dresser Paulette Bellafonté, earns the respect of fellow law student Emmett Forrest, and faces off with the tyrannical Professor Callahan. In the end, she assists in the defense of fitness guru Brooke Wyndham, who is on trial for murder. Throughout the show, we watch Elle go from a ditsy blonde to an intelligent, principled law student, all the while retaining her integrity and her zest for life.

Maddie Muurisepp is a senior and having a great time being in this show. “I am excited to be playing Elle. She is incredibly fun and bubbly. I’m grateful for us doing Legally Blonde for my last show, and I cannot wait to see our show come together.” Maddison Baker, another senior, plays Elle’s friend Paulette. “This musical isn’t a fantasy like previous ones I’ve done, but it still has that element of awe. Paulette is a sweet character: she’s always there for Elle and vice versa. I truly cannot wait to make these rehearsals a reality.”

Performances of the show will take place on April 4th & 5th at 7pm and April 6th at 2pm in the Secondary School Auditorium. Tickets are available for pre-sale purchase at Brand Name Appliance and the Secondary School Main Office. The cost is $10 for general admission and $5 for students & senior citizens. Tickets may be purchased at the door as well. This show has some adult themes, so it may not be suitable for younger children. If you would like to become a theatre patron, contact Producer Diane Willard at dwillard@wlsv.org or through the school’s main office to arrange a donation.

Audiences are sure to be satisfied with all aspects of this production—from the impressive set to the gorgeous music, from the amazing costumes to the incredible dancing.
