From Whitney for Legislator,

Most of you know me, but for those who don’t, my name is Ricky “Rick” Whitney. I was born and raised in Allegany County, graduated from Angelica Central School and Jamestown Community College. I was Chief of Police for the Village of Bolivar for 30 years and your Allegany County Sheriff for three terms, retiring December 31, 2022. I am officially announcing my candidacy for Allegany County Board of Legislators, District Three.

My wife Lois and I live in Bolivar where I have been a member of the Bolivar Lions Club for 42 years and Macedonia Lodge 258 Free and Accepted Masons for 30 years. I graduated from many leadership schools including the FBI National Academy at Quantico and the National Sheriff’s Institute in Longmont, Colorado.

As your Sheriff I tried to give you the best possible service while being fiscally responsible and I was able to bring the Sheriff’s Office in under budget each year I was in office. I have experience working with the county legislature, and in my years of public service, I have learned that one person can’t change the world, you must work together with your colleagues to make real changes. There are three seats available in our district, and I believe you have three excellent candidates running.

I look forward to your support and hope to represent you as a legislator for District 3.
