Wellsville youth leader asks for community input

An OP-ED from Tanya Cornelius, Wellsville Youth Cheer President

I would like to bring to the community’s attention that youth sport programs such as basketball, soccer, cheer, and wrestling and maybe a few more are struggling to find indoor locations to hold practices and camps. This seems to be an ongoing issue.

It would be great if we as a community could provide them the opportunity to practice all year round so they have the chance to become better athletes. We offer a lot of programs for the youth age but finding locations to hold practices is very difficult. It’s hard to get into schools because they have school sports that use the space. Some of our local church’s have been allowing us to use their gyms which we are very grateful for. Aside from that we have really had a hard time trying to find a location to hold these practices.

All sports start with youth ages, the more we can teach them and prepare them, the better athletes they can become.

If anyone has any ideas of locations we would greatly appreciate the information!
