Check out your favorite teams in this report., day-by-day. Wednesday Roundup: Fillmore returns to win column following loss at Ark-Can, use 1st half run to construct 40-23 win at GV/Belfast; C-R’s balance keys 10th win at B-R, And/Whi cruises past Fri/Scio
BELFAST — The wind was whipping, the snow was blowing and the temperatures, bitter.
But despite Old Man Winter displaying his almighty power across the area on Wednesday, there was still basketball to be played between Fillmore and Genesee Valley/Belfast from within the confines of the Paul Vienna Memorial Gym in Belfast.
Both teams were looking to seek and earn their way back into the win column once again, with Fillmore aiming to bounce back after their first defeat over the road at Arkport-Canaseraga earlier in the week, while Genesee Valley/Belfast looks for victory once again after an eight-day lay-off since their triumphant performance against Warsaw.
For the two teams, the battle was on with a fair amount of exchanges in the early stages of the first quarter.
But a big second quarter run from the Lady Eagles gave them a great deal of room to work with going forward, as they prolonged their advantage all the way into the second half to complete their rebounding performance with a 40-23 victory over Genesee Valley/Belfast.
The Lady Eagles (12-1) found their groove after Genesee Valley/Belfast opened the contest with a long-range triple from Sophie Zillgitt, with the team assembling the next six points in consecutive fashion. After another response by the hosts aided in closing the early gap, Fillmore was able to jump back out towards a 10-5 lead with a big Mattie McCumiskey three-point play sparking their advantage.
The scoring between the two clubs became limited in the last three minutes, but after another highlight from McCumiskey down low for the Lady Eagles with a blocked pass and steal directly underneath the Genesee Valley/Belfast (8-7) rim, the Lady Eagles junior was able to cash in on the opportunity to close out what was a 14-7 lead after the opening frame.
Fillmore then caught a bit of fire to help unfurl the second quarter. Along with their defense overloading the half-court against the hosts in white, turnovers were forced to aid the offense in return to resume control of the action on both ends of the floor with a 10-2 run of Genesee Valley/Belfast just across midway.
The Lady Eagles offense then sat idle for the last three minutes and change left remaining until halftime, allowing Genesee Valley/Belfast to score the half’s last five points in a row — three off the hand of Whitney Young from long range to close the gap to 10 entering the recess.
In the second half, the visitors in gray and green were able to maintain all control of their game, despite points being hard to come by, as they administered two big outscorings of their opposition.
Among them, a 9-4 fourth quarter run to finish off the victory up the road in Belfast.
Leading the offensive efforts for the Lady Eagles was Emalyn Mucher, who posted a game-high 14 points. Mattie McCumiskey was right behind her, registering 12 points. Morghyn Ross had eight points to contribute.
For Genesee Valley/Belfast, Bayleigh Tallman bucketed a team-leading performance consisting of 10 points. Addisyn Ely had four points. The team will stand pat in Belfast until after the weekend, when they play host to Bolivar-Richburg at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
Fillmore will head back home to welcome in Andover/Whitesville on Friday, with tip-off slated for a 7:30 p.m. start.

Cuba-Rushford 52, Bolivar-Richburg 35
BOLIVAR — There was plenty of balance to go around for the Cuba-Rushford offense during their visit to Bolivar-Richburg on Wednesday.
Behind the guidance of both Lily Tompkins and Lilly Farwell, the Lady Rebels were able to take advantage of the opportunity, despite some pressure from the Lady Wolverines in return, as they collected their 10th win of the campaign with a 52-35 road win.
The balance would settle in rather quickly for the Lady Rebels (10-6), with four different contributors all handing in efforts to counter a strong inside presence posed by Carmen Crowley for the Lady Wolverines in return, as they settled on an early 12-9 lead to start the contest.
“I was happy to see some different girls step up for us offensively tonight. Bolivar-Richburg came out with a good game plan and I thought our girls responded pretty well to it.” said Lady Rebels coach Aaron Wight.
In the second quarter, the visitors in black and blue garnered some breathing room behind a long Aubrey Williams triple — a shot that helped set the music for a 13-point frame, as the Lady Rebels bucketed the first five consecutively to claim a 17-9 lead on Bolivar-Richburg (6-8) in the early-going.

The advantage ultimately reached nine at the end of the first half for Cuba-Rushford, as they proceeded to score the last four points for a 25-16 lead.
The Lady Rebels maintained the momentum heading into the back 16 minutes of play, starting strong with eight of the first 10 points before Bolivar-Richburg flipped the switch and reversed the propulsion in their direction a short time later, coming away with the next six points in consecutive fashion themselves from Crowley and Raegan Giardini, who combined for all eight of the team’s points within the stanza.
Despite the Lady Wolverines chipping away at their deficit, Cuba-Rushford was able to finish off their visit on a high note with a magnificent 10-point fourth quarter from Lily Tompkins, as the Lady Rebels pulled away towards their fifth victory in the last seven games.
Tompkins led all scorers for Cuba-Rushford with a team-high 16 points. Farwell followed right behind her with 15 points of her own, while Cloey Larabee had nine to chip in.
As for Bolivar-Richburg, Carmen Crowley paved the way once again following a career-performance back on Monday against Campbell-Savona, posting a game-high 24 points. Jaelyn Kinnicutt and Raegan Giardini each had four points, while Sydney Faulkner scored a triple from long range to help finish off the scoring for the hosts.
The Lady Wolverines are back on the floor Friday night with a 6 p.m. home battle against Hinsdale.
The Lady Rebels will head back home and await the Fillmore Lady Eagles on Tuesday, with tip-off set for a 7:30 p.m. commencement.

Andover/Whitesville 53, Friendship/Scio 28
WHITESVILLE — An early fight was on between both Friendship/Scio and Andover/Whitesville on a blustery Wednesday night. With the two foes trading blows across the first half, some steam was picked up by the hosts in the midst of it during the second quarter with a strong finish coming into fruition.
That foundational momentum was used for the remainder of the game by Andover/Whitesville, as they pushed the tempo into full throttle for the second half where they managed to pull away from Friendship/Scio with a massive 28-11 run to close out on top with a 53-28 victory in Whitesville.
After a close first quarter witnessed a 7-7 tie between the two teams developing, the back-and-forth pace continued into the second quarter where another deadlock was formed approaching midway across the next several minutes.
With time winding down, Andover/Whitesville (11-1) saw an opportunity to garner a lead with additional cushioning, as they went on to score the next seven points in a row behind the leadership of Stella Bledsoe and Olivia Waters underneath.
Waters provided the bulk of the points, netting 12 of the team’s 18 points within the frame to help bring the curtain down on a 25-17 halftime lead.

In the second half, Andover/Whitesville put the pedal to the metal, especially in the fourth quarter to assemble a powerful finish to the evening, as they closed out the night with a 13-4 run of Friendship/Scio (2-11) to solidify their victory.
At the end of action, Waters led all scorers with a game-high 21 points. Stella Bledsoe finished with 15 points of her own, while Makenna Vance chipped in seven.
Friendship/Scio was led by Emily Lamberson and her team-high nine points. Alexiss Herring had eight points. The team is back in action Tuesday night over the road with a 6 p.m. visit to Hinsdale.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Fillmore 3, Bolivar-Richburg 0
RICHBURG — With one more game left on their campaign before the County Playoffs settle in, a Wednesday night for the Eagles of Fillmore was utilized as a grand opportunity to bounce back and build momentum. During their visit to Bolivar-Richburg, they did just that, as they survived two narrow sets with the host Wolverines to settle on a straight-set, 25-23, 25-19, 25-23 sweep.
The successful rebounding efforts for the Eagles (4-7) were ignited by Anderson Wiltsey on the offense, as he led the way with a team-leading six kills to go with two aces. Skylar Freeman chipped in with a team-high 22 assists to go with four aces from the back line, while Aiden Freeman was also busy setting up the attack at the front, garnering 18 helpers of his own.
Statistics for the Wolverines (3-11) were not made available to report upon publication. Bolivar-Richburg ends their regular season, and will now begin County Playoff play beginning next Wednesday night with a 6 p.m. first-round contest at Arkport-Canaseraga.
Fillmore will officially close their regular season down tonight with a 6 p.m. trip back home to host Genesee Valley/Belfast.
Monday Roundup: And/Whi boys run table in 2nd half, overcome halftime deficit to score series-sweep of A-P; Ark-Can girls sink 12 3’s, hand Fillmore 1st loss; C-R, Wellsville, B-R volleyball win
ANDOVER — There was a slight complication that densely shrouded the start of the night for the Andover/Whitesville boys basketball squad to open the final week of January on Monday, with Avoca-Prattsburgh up next on the docket.
During JV game festivities to start the night in Whitesville, a water main break had occurred.
The two teams were permitted to finish their contest, but immediately following the conclusion, the doors would now close for the remainder of the night to properly address the fix, leaving the Avoca-Prattsburgh and Andover/Whitesville Varsity teams without a venue for their two-game series finale.
That didn’t last long however.
Despite the raging winds and chilly temperatures outside, the two teams regrouped and embarked on a journey just outside town, down County Road 22 and over the hill into Andover, where they would soon ultimately do battle. Even if some early midnight oil was burned in the process.

After warm-ups between the two squads, all systems were a-go around 8:20 p.m. to commence the final meeting between the two squads in the regular season.
As for the game itself, tightly knit across most of the first half, with the foes trading blows through the first quarter before the visiting Titans broke away emphatically behind a second quarter run to claim the halftime lead going into the locker room. Andover/Whitesville was able to muster a slight burst of momentum to close things out, beating the clock for a second straight quarter with a deficit-cutting basket.
But this one though. This one turned the game around completely.
That belonged to Jon Vallieres.
Despite numerous complications all throughout the night, it was all made worthwhile for Andover/Whitesville, as Vallieres’ clutch buzzer-beating triple from downtown gave the team a big shock of electricity, as they re-emerged from the locker room hungry for a bounce back.
As a result, they slowed Avoca-Prattsburgh down completely with a third quarter run that ultimately steered the ship back in the right direction for good, capping off their comeback with a 64-57 home win to sweep the Titans on the season.
“It was kind of difficult for both teams to play under the abrupt circumstances with the last-minute venue chance, but what a battle we got tonight,” Andover/Whitesville coach Jimmy Joyce said. “I have to give a ton of credit to Avoca-Prattsburgh. That is not the same team we played earlier in the year. They are vastly improved, and they’re going to be a big problem for anybody they play moving forward. We certainly didn’t do any favors with a slow start. We weren’t clicking and we didn’t have the energy. We made some adjustments at halftime and it turned the game around.”
In the midst of all the chaos, there was a big game in Class D to be played, as the two foes went blow-for-blow through the opening eight minutes, with Andover/Whitesville (9-6) claiming the first advantage off a strong offensive board from Vallieres, who dished off a stellar pass to a wide-open Colton Calladine for the 6-4 go-ahead flush in the early-going.
With 2:09 on the clock, the Titans nabbed the advantage off a fiery first half from Colin Zurlick, who had three of his four triples within that 16-minute timespan to aid in igniting the offense. After Avoca-Prattsburgh was able to springboard towards an 11-6 lead, Andover/Whitesville fired back a response and created level playing ground again with five straight points.
In the waning moments of the first, the two foes traded barbs in each of the quarter’s last three possessions, with Andover/Whitesville providing the final bucket off a clutch Calladine lay-in at the buzzer to trim their deficit down to a pair of points going into the second.
In that second quarter, a massive relay from the Titans on all fronts occurred, as they forced three straight turnovers against Andover/Whitesville — one of those, cashed in off of Zurlick’s third triple.
The shot, stemming before JJ Crowder took matters into his own hands with the next eight points for the visitors, as he scored two three-point plays along with a breakaway run to the hoop to give Avoca-Prattsburgh a 27-18 lead.
The advantage for the Titans reached as much as 14 during the second quarter, but ultimately stood at seven at the conclusion of the half after Vallieres knocked down a humongous triple to halt the momentum from the visitors whilst building their own to go back into the locker room.
For Joyce, Vallieres and his effort for the team meant everything.
“We had much better execution on both sides of the ball in the second half. Jon was the key tonight,” he said. “His athleticism and skill are really rounding and coming into form day-by-day. There is absolutely no way we win this game without him tonight. I’m very proud of the way he helped kick things into gear for us. It was a much needed win to have against a team like this, but with a busy week ahead of us, there’s no time to dwell.”
With the second half now eclipsing over the horizon, it was a brand new ball game for Andover/Whitesville to conduct.
It would all begin right in the third quarter, where four different scorers, including Vallieres, all came together to fuel what was an incredible and resounding 24-9 run of Avoca-Prattsburgh to change the game at the drop of a hat, as they overcame a slow first half to deliver a massive victory despite all the evening’s complications.
Brody Vance led the scoring for Andover/Whitesville with a team-high 20 points. Vallieres was right behind him with 14 points of his own. Colton Calladine concluded with 13 points, while Vinny Joyce had 11 to add into the mix.
The Titans were paced by JJ Crowder once again on the attack, as he finished with a game-high 24 points. Zurlick totaled 16 points.
At the time of the roundup’s publication, there has been no official word on whether school will be held in Whitesville this morning or not. The school will already be closed in observance of Lunar New Year on Wednesday.
As for what’s up next for the Andover/Whitesville boys, they will stand pat in Andover and seek their 10th win of the campaign by welcoming in Houghton Academy on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Keshequa 57, Houghton Academy 34
NUNDA — The first eight minutes of battle made all the difference for the Wildcats of Keshequa on Monday.
After a constant exchange of pleasantries throughout the evening, it was their tone-setting moment right in the opening quarter that served as the difference at the conclusion of the evening, as they rolled towards a 57-34 home win over visiting Houghton Academy.
Keshequa set the bar almost immediately off the hop in the first quarter, as they log-jammed the inner perimeter behind the efforts of Aiden Upright and Ian Hinrich, who combined for 12 of the team’s 15 points within the frame while holding the Panthers (4-10) to just a single shot from the field along the way to complete a 15-2 run.
The Panthers worked to chip away at their deficit following halftime with their strongest offensive outing of the game, with Jack Prentice’s three-point game heating up, as he buried three big triples out of his six total for the game directly in the third quarter to aid in the assembly a 14-point stanza.
But the early deficit to the Wildcats ultimately became too much to overcome, as Keshequa’s hot start held firm to grant them victory.
Prentice led all scorers for Houghton Academy with a game-high 24 points. Gavin Martino had six points to add in.
The Panthers will hit the road for Andover on Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. contest against Andover/Whitesville.

Bolivar-Richburg 46, Friendship/Scio 28
FRIENDSHIP — Against the face of adversity going into halftime, the Bolivar-Richburg Wolverines needed a response after a first quarter commencement was null-and-voided by host Friendship/Scio on Monday.
They were well within reach at the start of the second half, but the Wolverines found a way to reignite their offense once again to regain control of the game, as they held Friendship/Scio to just 13 more second half points to solidify another victory — their 8th in the last 10 games, by a 46-28 final tally in Friendship.
“The score got away from us as the second half went along, but I thought it was a closer game than an 18-point game when it turned out that way,” Friendship/Scio coach Dillon McFall said. “The boys battled and they were really scrappy tonight against a tough B-R team. We just have to put the ball in the basket more often, and we cannot let any more turnovers slip away from us. I’m proud of our effort, and we’re getting better.”
The Wolverines (11-5) caught fire right from the start with an early lead that remained intact despite some added pressure from Friendship/Scio towards the end of the half, claiming a 16-6 advantage right off the hop.
Later on in the second quarter, the advantage was trimmed down dramatically by the hosts, as they put together perhaps one of their strongest finishes to a frame this season, holding Bolivar-Richburg absolutely scoreless in the midst of a 9-0 run to close the gap from double digits down to a single point going into the break.
But despite building a bundle of momentum heading into the recess, the Wolverines terminated all of it with a rebound third quarter, as they pulled away and avoided Friendship/Scio (4-9) at all costs with a mammoth 17-5 run to keep their lead on the scoreboard permanently.
Landon Barkley and Kingston Loucks both found themselves at the front of the pack for Bolivar-Richburg, with Barkley paving the way for the offense behind a game-high 18 points, while Loucks followed behind with 17 of his own. Maddox Davison sank a pair of triples, for six points.
Friendship/Scio was led by Aiden Golden and his nine team-high points. Deacon Brown had six points, while Jerome Harmon had five to chip in.
Both teams are back in action Thursday night, with Bolivar-Richburg hitting the road for a 7:30 p.m. visit to Belfast to take on Genesee Valley/Belfast, while Friendship/Scio hits the road themselves for a 6 p.m. stop in Hinsdale.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Arkport-Canaseraga 71, Fillmore 54
ARKPORT — The three-point shot can provide a devastating blow for any opposing team. It’s been a signature callsign for the Arkport-Canaseraga Lady Wolves all season long and on Monday, it was no different. Even with undefeated Fillmore in town for a visit.
Almost immediately, the Lady Wolves found their rhythm and never lost their touch from downtown.
Out of their 12 triples from long range for the contest, three-quarters of those shots were delivered across a cascading first half from the field alone, as they brought the hammer down on the visiting Lady Eagles with authority to hand them their first loss in a 71-54 victory to split the season series right down the middle for the campaign.
“They are the real deal. Arkport-Canaseraga came out on fire and we really had no answers for them defensively in the first half,” said Lady Eagles coach Tom Parks. “I thought our offense was solid, but they hit nine threes in the first two quarters and we just couldn’t get stops. They have shooters all over the court and a very good physical center inside. We’ll hopefully use tonight’s lessons for down the stretch.”
Arkport-Canaseraga let their shots fly across the first half, creating a massive wildfire across all fronts that could not be stopped, beginning in the opening frame with a 24-14 lead over the Lady Eagles (11-1) before closing out the two segments of action even stronger with a 26-point second quarter to claim a 40-28 advantage heading into the break.
Although they were caught behind the eight-ball, Fillmore still pieced together a strong second half of their own, led by the likes of Mattie McCumiskey and Morghyn Ross, as the two combined to record 32 of the team’s 54 points, with McCumiskey’s team-high 19 points paving the path forward from down low.
Parks praised their efforts.
“At halftime, we talked about having an opportunity to respond, raise our defensive effort and fight,” he said. “I was really proud of how we responded in the second half. Our two juniors, Mattie and Morghyn led the efforts and they didn’t fold. The team fed off of that and played a more complete second half. But the deficit was too big to overcome. Despite that, I felt like we grew as a team tonight and learned the type of minute-by-minute effort and attention to detail that needs to be paid forward to beat great teams.”
Ross would follow suit with 13 points of her own, while Emalyn Mucher had 12 points for Fillmore.
Arkport-Canaseraga was ignited by Kara Mahany, who had five of the team’s 12 total threes from long range, putting it all towards a game-high 26 points.
Fillmore will look to bounce back on Wednesday in Belfast, visiting Genesee Valley/Belfast in a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.

Bolivar-Richburg 46, Campbell-Savona 41
BOLIVAR — The Lady Wolverines of Bolivar-Richburg witnessed a career night come to full fruition on Monday.
Senior Carmen Crowley had an incredible night to remember across all four quarters of play against visiting Campbell-Savona, as she registered a game-high 32 points, which included a resounding second half performance to allow the team to ward off a final Lady Panthers push down the stretch to secure a 46-41 home win.
Off the hop, Crowley made her presence known right away for the Lady Wolverines (6-7) alongside her fellow senior teammate Raegan Giardini, as they both provided a heavy occupancy at the charity stripe. The two shooters combined to net a 9-for-18 outing to go with a pair of inside shots from Crowley along the way, scoring a 13-7 lead of Campbell-Savona in the same swing.
In the second quarter, the two tag-teamed once again to deliver the goods for the offense with another 10-point combination out of the team’s 12 for the frame, while the defense continued to keep the Lady Panthers off the board to close out the half, finishing out on top with a 25-14 lead at the break.
When the second half settled in, the rest of the game belonged to Crowley, as she proceeded to take over the inside of the arc with 19 of Bolivar-Richburg’s 21 total second half points.
Within that effort, 11 of those points were scattered throughout the third quarter to ensure their lead remained pieced together despite one final attempt from the Lady Panthers in the last eight minutes to cut away at the deficit with a 15-8 lead in the scoring.
Giardini concluded with 12 points to follow up Crowley’s career evening. Sydney Faulkner knocked down a pair of shots at the line to round off the scoring.
Bolivar-Richburg will return to their home floor Wednesday night, hosting the Lady Rebels of Cuba-Rushford in a 6:30 p.m. tip-off.

FILLMORE — The start of the week was of immaculate quality for the Rebels of Cuba-Rushford, who remained hot entering the final stretch of the regular season on Monday with another straight-set sweep, this time over the road in Fillmore, as they claimed the 25-19, 25-11, 25-17 victory over the host Eagles.
Another victorious effort by the Rebels (8-4) was charged by Brock Stadler on the attack, as he guided the offense behind a team-high seven kills, combining them with two digs on defense and one ace. Gunnar Jahnke chipped in with five additional kills of his own to pair with three big blocks at the net and one more ace.
The team’s setter, Coen Kellogg, racked up the assists, handing out 15 in all to go with three digs.
Fillmore (3-7) was propelled by Anderson Wiltsey on offense, scoring eight service points to go with his three kills and one ace. Zach Fraser added in 13 more service points of his own to pair with a duo of denials at the net.
The Eagles are back on the floor at Bolivar-Richburg on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
On Thursday, Cuba-Rushford will now get set for a colossal showdown with the Lions of Wellsville over the road beginning at 6 p.m.
Wellsville 3, Portville 0
WELLSVILLE — With the County Playoffs right around the corner, the battle for the League’s number one seed raged onwards, with the Lions of Wellsville keeping pace with current top seed Portville right underneath them.
The Lions knew that it was a game they needed to have. Out of the gate early on Monday, the Panthers were able to put together an early jump with a strong first-set victory. But from the second set on, the hosts assembled a rebound of epic proportions with victories in each of the next three sets to come away with four-set glory on their home floor, scooping up the 17-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-22 final decision all for themselves.
Xavier Scott was a big reason behind Wellsville’s (9-2) success on the attack, as he posted a 12-kill effort to go with three digs, two blocks and one ace. Lucius Griggs was right behind him with nine kills of his own, adding three aces along the way.
Carter Newman chipped in with two kills, two digs and two blocks for the Lions.
Coming up on Thursday, the Lions will get set for a massive showdown with the Cuba-Rushford Rebels on their home floor at 6 p.m.
Bolivar-Richburg 3, Genesee Valley/Belfast 1
BELMONT — Despite falling behind early after the first set, the Wolverines of Bolivar-Richburg bounced back in a big way to come away victorious on Monday over the road, as they claimed the next three sets to settle on a four-set victory over host Genesee Valley/Belfast with a 18-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-13 final count.
Statistics for each team were not made available to report upon publication.
The Wolverines (3-10) head back home to host Fillmore in a 6 p.m. contest on Wednesday, while Genesee Valley/Belfast (0-11) stays put to host Arkport-Canaseraga in a quick turnaround this evening in a 6 p.m. first serve of their own.
Saturday Roundup: Lady Lions utilize 3rd quarter to pull away from Avoca-Prattsburgh in series-clinching rebound; GV/Belfast boys win 4th straight, cling to victory over Titans
PRATTSBURGH — It’s been a long lay-off for the Lady Lions of Wellsville, with Saturday afternoon marking the first time in eight days that they last saw the court.
Despite Hornell getting the best of them at the Dan Barkley Showcase last weekend, the Lady Lions were looking to build off a dynamic performance in that contest to work their way back into the win column once again.
The opponent at hand this time around, was Avoca-Prattsburgh for the second time in three contests. The Lady Lions had to overcome a slight disadvantage in the opening quarter of play to start the afternoon off. But once they got their wheels spinning, they were tough to slow down.
The second half was evidence of that.
They escaped towards victory following a massive run in the fourth quarter in their previous matchup at Alfred University right before the Barkley Showcase.
On Saturday, they did it again, this time to open the second half.
Behind the assembly of yet masterful phenomenal performance from their senior leader, Makenna Dunbar, the Lady Lions went full bore on offense to pull away from Avoca-Prattsburgh, bulldozing their way towards a 49-36 road win in Prattsburgh.
A 7-3 lead for Wellsville (11-3) in the opening stages was foiled by a strong finish from the Lady Titans, as their offense rebounded and delivered a big quarter-ending punch with nine of the last 11 points going in their favor to take the lead.
But the Lady Lions reversed course and went right back to the grind in the second quarter to reclaim the lead that they proceeded to never lose again, finishing off the second quarter with a 14-7 run of the Lady Titans.
To cement their advantage even further, the Lady Lions held Avoca-Prattsburgh at a near-standstill in the third quarter, constructing a 14-4 run to occupy both ends of the floor with full control in the third quarter.
Makenna Dunbar had a big role in the offense’s success from start to finish, as she put together a game-high 25-point performance to go with 10 rebounds, completing a massive double-double.
Emily Stuck chipped in with 10 points of her own to go with eight rebounds. Natalie Adams recorded eight points, while Caelyn Stevens furthered the special teams game with eight more rebounds off the glass.
Avoca-Prattsburgh was paced by a team-leading 14-point effort from Meyah Putnam.
In the JV contest earlier in the afternoon, the Lady Lions were able to set up the road sweep of the Lady Titans with a 48-32 victory behind a strong 14-point performance from Lexi Coleman.
The Lady Lions are back on their home floor Tuesday night, hosting the Pioneer Lady Panthers in a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.

Lyons 54, Canisteo-Greenwood 46
CANISTEO — In the second game of their back-to-back set, the Lady Chargers of Canisteo-Greenwood returned home to the valley on Saturday, where three different runs across the first three quarters of play against the Lyons Lady Lions laid down the foundation for the final outcome in the last eight minutes of play.
WIth the Lady Chargers holstering the momentum coming out of the break after falling behind early, they looked to put it to full use in the last 16 minute session. But Lyons had other plans in store for the afternoon, as they came out swinging with a run of all runs to keep Canisteo-Greenwood at bay, completing a boisterous comeback to finish the game on top with a 54-46 road victory.
The Lady Chargers (9-6) fell under the spell of the Lady Lions across the vast majority of time in the opening quarter, with Lyons posting 10 of the first 12 points before the hosts provided a late surge to trim their deficit back down to two possessions when time expired.
In the second quarter, Canisteo-Greenwood was on the move, netting 10 consecutive points to claim their first lead of the game.
It was a 25-17 halftime advantage they held onto, but in the second half, Lyons turned everything upside down. After they procured a 10-point advantage at the start of the half, the Lady Chargers were held frozen solid on offense.
With a 30-25 lead on the scoreboard in favor of the hosts, the Lady Lions flipped the script and finished the half with 12 of the last 15 points in the final three minutes to break away out of reach.
MacKenna Mullen led all scorers for Canisteo-Greenwood with a team-high 14 points. Bailey Mullen was a rebound shy of scoring a double-double, garnering 13 points to go with nine boards. Paris May and Harlie McCaffery each had eight points, while Anna Mitchell had the team’s remaining three points to add into the mix.
The Lady Chargers are now off until Thursday night, as they return to their home hardwood in the valley with a 7:15 p.m. visit from Arkport-Canaseraga.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Genesee Valley/Belfast 73, Avoca-Prattsburgh 63
AVOCA — A rapid return to action for the Genesee Valley/Belfast boys was most certainly not going to stop them from slowing down. Saturday afternoon, they hit the road for a matinee at Avoca-Prattsburgh, where a tough fight against the host Titans was had.
Despite a late first quarter resurgence from Avoca-Prattsburgh to close the frame, Genesee Valley/Belfast was able to find their rhythm to close out the first half and entering the third quarter, as the duo of Kenton Shultz and Ian McKenzie aided in illuminating the way towards glory at the end of battle, scoring their fourth consecutive victory in a 73-63 final tally over the Titans.
A back-and-forth exchange between the two foes emerged in the early-going, with Genesee Valley/Belfast (8-5) working their way out ahead behind a stellar first quarter from Shultz, who posted 11 of his team-high 22 points within the frame.
Despite the push towards the lead, the Titans responded with an even stronger finish of their own, concluding the frame with 11 of the last 13 points — including a long three from Austin Swift with 15 seconds remaining to grant a 21-19 lead.
The advantage continued to change hands through the second quarter between both teams once again, with the pillar-to-post baskets charting its course towards a 30-30 tie, ultimately being broken by the Titans with a quick 5-0 run before it turned back into Genesee Valley/Belfast’s favor with six of the final eight points tilting back their way to close the halftime gap to a single possession.
In the third quarter, the visitors in black raced off on the Titans with a fiery 9-0 jaunt, with Ian McKenzie helping lead the efforts with a 10-point stanza. The advantage would not hold much longer approaching halfway, as the Titans made up lost ground rapidly with six unanswered points to re-tie the game back up at 45 on each side.
After Genesee Valley/Belfast was able to close the book with a 56-51 lead in hand, they would have to survive one final back-and-forth duel in the early stages of the final eight minutes before finding the smoothest of grooves to travel upon past halfway. At that particular juncture, the visitors went on to bucket nine of the next 12 points, with Cane Treusdell knocking down a monstrous triple before inside buckets from Ian McKenzie gave them plenty of room to work with going down the stretch.
Genesee Valley would go on to use a 4-for-6 outing at the charity stripe to help solidify their victory — their fourth in a row following their Barkley Showcase win over Arkport-Canaseraga, last weekend.
Following Shultz on the scoresheet was McKenzie, who concluded with 21 points. Treusdell went on to glue together a 13-point effort, while Ethan Davenport had 12 points.
Avoca-Prattsburgh was powered by a heroic game-high 34 points from JJ Crowder.
Genesee Valley/Belfast is back home Tuesday night, as they return to the Jungle in Belmont to play host to the Honeoye Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m.

Friday Roundup: Lions rebound in big way, net season series-sweeping victory over Hornell; B-R boys bucket 15 3’s in win over Hinsdale, And/Whi girls mount big 2nd quarter in win at Addison
HORNELL — One week after another legendary entry showcased by two of the area’s finest navigated its way into the rivalry’s storied history books, there was no better way for Wellsville and Hornell than to follow it all up by going after it one last time.
The site this time was the Seneca Street Zoo, one of the more difficult places to play in the area. And for the Lions, it provided a perfect opportunity to get back on track following a devastating Senior Night defeat to the hands of Bolivar-Richburg back on Wednesday.
Wellsville head coach Tom Muska preached response following that game, setting their focus on rebounding off the glass during practice the night leading up to their final showdown with the Red Raiders.
On Friday, he received a big response in season series-sweeping form.
Led by the red hot hand of Ty Vogel early on in the first quarter, the Lions claimed the advantage first and foremost over Hornell. Despite some back-and-forth exchanges with their archrival throughout the course of the contest, Wellsville worked their way out on top with an advantage in all four quarters of play, as they used all the momentum to coast towards a mammoth 63-54 victory over the Red Raiders to light their path back into the win column.
“It always feels good to beat a rival, especially if it’s Hornell. All the credit goes to the kids tonight, they really did respond,” Muska said. “We worked on rebounding last night in practice, because I felt like we gave up too much in our last two games. Tonight, I felt like we handled things much better off the glass, and it showed up big with a win. JJ (Howard) and Trenton (Green) were both guarding PJ Picco, and them rotating out against him made it difficult for him to deal with. Especially with Trenton, he’s a floor raiser with his energy and athleticism. He can affect every possession.”
There was no advantage held by the Lions (8-6) that eclipsed more than five points against the Red Raiders throughout the opening eight minutes. But it was a quarter that helped power their victory across all four frames of play, with Ty Vogel and his fiery hand from downtown Hornell aiding the team in a strong start behind three of his five three-pointers in the contest, allotting a 19-18 lead in the same swing when the first buzzer sounded.
The Red Raiders were able to gather a quick jump in the second quarter behind Wyatt Evingham and his frame-opening basket down low. But the Lions fought right back and kept their fire ignited with eight straight points, with Trent Green and Aiden Cowburn going back-to-back from three-point land.
That, along with a monster two-handed jam from Green shortly after, helped register a seven-point lead closing in on the five minute mark. When it was all said and done, the advantage would remain at seven going into halftime, as the two foes traded responses in the remaining time ahead, with Wellsville ultimately claiming a 31-24 lead.
In the third quarter, it was a frame that belonged to Nick Germain-Tardieu for the Lions, as he posted all seven of his points within the frame to keep the pistons firing on all cylinders for the offense — including a long triple from inside the left wing that pushed Wellsville’s lead to nine.
The finishing touches on the victory were applied in the last eight minutes, as they continued to respond to Hornell’s offensive presence from beginning to end, coming up with a 10-point lead in the final minute behind some assistance at the line from Aiden Cowburn, JJ Howard and Karson Grover to finish off another highlight victory over their longtime archrival.
Vogel led all scorers for Wellsville with a game-high 17 points. Cowburn followed with 13 points of his own, while Grover had 10 points.
For the Red Raiders, Wyatt Evingham posted 17 team-high points. Demayne Dixon recorded 15 points of his own, while Austyn Gollnitz provided 12.
Wellsville will again seek the win column back over the road on Tuesday against another team of Red Raiders, visiting Palmyra-Macedon in a 7 p.m. clash.

Fillmore 71, Andover/Whitesville 41
FILLMORE — Aside from slow-go out of the gate on Friday, the Eagles of Fillmore remained at the very apex of their game against visiting Andover/Whitesville, assembling a strong four-quarter stand to keep their engines rolling to the maximum, as they cruised towards victory by a 71-41 final tally from within their own confines at The Rock.
“We came out really focused tonight. Andover/Whitesville has a lot of talent and we knew we would have to play great team defense in order to slow down Colton (Calladine), Brody (Vance) and Vinny (Joyce),” Eagles coach Randy Crouch said. “All three of them can be dangerous shooting and off the bounce. Thankfully, we were locked in on that end and survived a sluggish start offensively in the opening minutes. Once JD (Bialek) and Cam (Mucher) established our inside presence, we were really able to spread the offense around. Isaiah (Sisson) may be our most explosive athlete, and he has really been attacking the rim, he had another great game tonight. Carson Sanasith gave us a great defensive effort off the bench and helped us when Isaiah got some early fouls.”
The Fillmore (11-1) offense ignited right away to break the ice on Andover/Whitesville, as they created a pile of points to net an early 14-2 lead that they built upon even further. Right at the start of the second quarter, the Eagles found yet another opportunity to bust loose out of their opposition’s reach, commencing the frame with 11 straight points before Andover/Whitesville provided their first basket of the frame approaching the midway mark.
With a 34-12 lead in hand going into the break, the hosts in white and green rolled on with a humongous 25-11 run of Andover/Whitesville (8-6) in the third quarter to help cap off another phenomenal performance to close out the week.
“This was a tough one tonight. I thought we played well defensively, particularly early but Fillmore shut us down on the offensive side most of the game. Cam and Jonah (Bialek) are so hard to play against on both ends, and JD is as fundamentally sound as it gets,” Andover/Whitesville coach Jimmy Joyce said. “I actually thought Vinny played a very solid game all around, particularly on Cam, but you kind of pick your poison. They are so well-coached and well-disciplined, they expose every mistake that you make. I know we are better than what we showed today, but we definitely have a lot of work to do if we want to compete with great teams like Fillmore.”
Pacing the offensive front for Fillmore was Cam Mucher and his game-high 20 points. Jonah Bialek chipped in with 18 points of his own, while JD Bialek had 12 points.
On the opposite side for Andover/Whitesville, Vinny Joyce recorded a team-high 14 points. Brody Vance finished with 13 points, while Colton Calladine had seven. The team is back on the court Monday night in Whitesville, as they prepare for a 7:30 p.m. visit from Avoca-Prattsburgh.
Fillmore will look to keep the steam engine rolling into Wednesday night back on the road, visiting Belfast for a 7:30 p.m. contest against Genesee Valley/Belfast.

Cuba-Rushford 71, Houghton Academy 34
CUBA — Senior Night was in full effect from within the confines of the Wighthouse at Cuba-Rushford on Friday, where four Seniors stepped onto their home floor for one of the very last times in their careers.
With Houghton Academy in town for a visit, an early conflict was in store for the first eight minute session, as the Rebels worked their way through it to grab the advantage.
Despite a last-second bucket from the Panthers to close out the frame, Cuba-Rushford shook it off and put together a near-flawless second quarter to close out the first half, as they held the visiting opposition to just two points in the midst of their half-ending jaunt to firmly take their place in the driver’s seat permanently, rolling towards the finish line with a 71-34 victory to send their Seniors out swinging.
“We didn’t get off to the best of starts. The guys looked like they had some nerves with it being Senior Night,” said Rebels coach Pat Wight. “Houghton did a solid job defensively forcing us into some tough shots early. Jack Prentice had a really good night for them and made some tough shots. I felt like we found our stride at the end of the third quarter and into the fourth. We got out in transition and really defended well. We didn’t shoot very well tonight from three, but we still found a way to score 70 points, which is great to see.”
It was an advantage that Cuba-Rushford (11-4) captured right away to start the contest off, as they found their groove with eight of the first 10 points to find its way through the twine. Despite falling behind in a hurry, Houghton Academy was able to finish the frame strong through an even exchange of pleasantries to close out the frame, with Jack Prentice racing through a wide open lane to the rim for a buzzer-beating lay-in to cut the deficit down to five.
But in the second quarter, the Rebels took over from there on out, building a head full of steam with a gigantic 14-2 run powered by the tag-team of Adam Roe and Carter Brown, combining for all 14 points the team would muster to create a 28-11 halftime lead.
In the second half, the hosts in white and maroon further cemented their advantage despite Houghton Academy (4-9) posting their largest stand of offense in the third, as they finished the game with a 27-4 fourth quarter run.
Almost every Rebels scorer recorded at least a bucket to propel the offense towards big heights, with Adam Roe leading the scoring with his team-high 18 points, pairing them with 10 rebounds to complete a monster double-double. Donovan Breckenridge followed with 17 points of his own to pair with seven rebounds. Carter Brown had 14 points to go with five assists, while Finn Ricketts had eight points.
Eli Sleggs grabbed six boards to help further the special teams cause for Cuba-Rushford.
Houghton Academy was guided by Jack Prentice and his game-high 29 points. The Panthers hit the road for a 6 p.m. visit to Keshequa on Monday.
The Rebels are back in action coming up on Tuesday, as they prepare to travel themselves with a 7:30 p.m. contest in Ellicottville.

Genesee Valley/Belfast 68, Friendship/Scio 40
BELFAST — Removed from a colossal Dan Barkley Showcase-capturing victory over Arkport-Canaseraga last weekend, Genesee Valley/Belfast was looking to continue turning the tide. Immediately following a season-high 79-point performance against Campbell-Savona in the middle of the week, they looked for more on Friday up the road in Belfast.
At first, the task was not easy, as they dueled with visiting Friendship/Scio through the opening eight minutes to come out on top with a narrow first quarter lead. With the advantage in their possession, Genesee Valley/Belfast proceeded to go to work, zipping off on a gargantuan half-ending jaunt of their opposition to widen the lead exponentially.
Looking to pull out of reach, the hosts put together one last fireworks display on the hardwood to keep Friendship/Scio at bay, as they assembled a dominant stand of offense to ensure their first quarter lead remained well intact when the end of battle approached, going on to win their third straight battle — their fourth in the last five, with a 68-40 final decision.
Both teams came together to produce a long jaunt of offense to tilt the momentum on each side in the first quarter, with Friendship/Scio racing off to the first start behind a run that saw them bucket nine of the game’s first 11 points.
Approaching two minutes left in the frame, Genesee Valley/Belfast (7-5) returned the favor themselves, collecting an 11-2 run of their own to reverse the action back in their wheelhouse with a 13-11 lead.
The two foes traded constant barbs down to the end of the quarter, where the hosts maintained an 18-14 lead.
In the second quarter, it was all Genesee Valley/Belfast, as they motored on and blazed a trail of glory all the way to the locker room behind an absolutely sublime 19-8 second quarter run to branch their lead out even further at the break.
When the third quarter settled in, Genesee Valley/Belfast went all in to secure the victory in its entirety, as the team posted one more final jaunt — an 18-7 run to pull away from Friendship/Scio (4-8) for good.
Leading the offense for Genesee Valley/Belfast was Kenton Shultz, who recorded a game-high 22 points. Cane Treusdell was hot from beyond the three-point arc, sinking four of the team’s nine in total to put towards an 18-point performance. Ian McKenzie had 13 points to chip in for the hosts.
For Friendship/Scio, Aiden Golden totaled a team-high 13 points, including all three of the team’s triples from downtown. Deacon Brown pitched in 10 points down low, while Jerimiah Brown had seven points.
The team will return to the floor on Monday back in Friendship, hosting Bolivar-Richburg at 7:30 p.m.
Genesee Valley/Belfast will go for four straight wins in a quick turnaround this afternoon back on the road, visiting Avoca-Prattsburgh at 3 p.m.

Bolivar-Richburg 82, Hinsdale 25
BOLIVAR — Following another Senior Night spoiling performance back on Wednesday in Wellsville, the Wolverines of Bolivar-Richburg were simply not going to be slowed down. To close out the week on Friday, the offense went absolutely bonkers from three-point range, nailing 15 of them all together to set up their 82-25 win over visiting Hinsdale back home.
The first quarter was used to Bolivar-Richburg’s (10-5) utmost advantage, as they set the tone at an instant behind a 28-6 run over the Bobcats. Andover/Whitesville 57, Addison 33
ADDISON — The first two quarters of play in Addison were two different stories that were told on Friday, with both Andover/Whitesville and the host Lady Knights dealing back-and-forth damage across a high-scoring first eight minutes to start the night.
Then, everything was flipped upside down by Andover/Whitesville. Down by six entering the frame, Andover/Whitesville slammed straight down on the accelerator on a big run going into halftime, as they picked up the lead and never let go of it again, scoring their 10th victory of the season in the same swing by a 57-33 final count over the Lady Knights.
A rapid first quarter outburst between both teams came into fruition with Andover/Whitesville (10-1) advancing forward to claim the early 8-5 lead. A short time later, momentum was established by the Lady Knights to score seven straight points to eclipse the double-digit plateau with nearly two minutes left to play in the quarter.
After the two foes traded back-and-forth baskets to close up a 22-16 frame in favor of Addison, the tide turned completely for the visitors in black with blue and purple inscription, as they proceeded to net an 18-2 run of the Lady Knights — the majority of the points, stemming underneath off a heavy inside presence from Olivia Waters, who went on to lead all scorers on the hardwood with nine in the frame, and a game-high 24 points in all.
All the momentum Andover/Whitesville garnered in the first half was completely harnessed in the second half, as the team continued moving full speed ahead towards the finish line, concluding the night with an 11-3 run of Addison to finish off the victory.
Behind Waters on the scoresheet was Graci Lewis-Ellison, who sank three triples on her way to a 15-point effort. Stella Bledsoe chipped in with 14 points, while Reece Winters rounded off the scoring with the final four points for Andover/Whitesville.
Up next for Andover/Whitesville is a return to their home floor coming forth on Wednesday, as they prepare for battle with Friendship/Scio beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Whitesville.

Avoca-Prattsburgh 42, Canisteo-Greenwood 35
AVOCA — There was little to no room for comfort in Avoca on Friday. Across the first three quarters of action, the degree of separation between both Canisteo-Greenwood and host Avoca-Prattsburgh at the quarter’s conclusion each occasion was no more than three points, with the Lady Chargers surfacing with the narrow edge going into the last eight minutes.
The door remained closed, but for the Lady Titans, they were continuously knocking on it very loudly. Then in the fourth quarter, the door opened up. On the other side of it, was that sweet, sweet taste of victory.
Hanging right alongside the Lady Chargers almost all game long, the Lady Titans were rewarded for their efforts. The offense managed to click at the right time in the last eight minute session of the evening, as they held the Lady Chargers at a standstill on one end while capitalizing themselves on the other.
As a result, the Lady Titans went on to close out the night with the last eight points in consecutive fashion to lock up what was a 42-35 home victory in Avoca.
The points were a little difficult to come by in the opening act of battle between Canisteo-Greenwood (9-5) and Avoca-Prattsburgh, with each side coming away with each share of a deadlock to secure level playing ground going into the next stanza. In the second quarter, a back-and-forth exchange of runs then ensued, with the Lady Chargers producing theirs first off eight of the first 10 points in the frame.
With a 13-7 lead in hand, it was then completely erased by the Lady Titans to close out the first half itself, as they countered right back with six of the last eight points to kick Canisteo-Greenwood out of the driver’s seat and steer the way towards a 15-13 lead at the break.
The back-and-forth battle raged on again in the second half, primarily the third quarter, before Avoca-Prattsburgh pieced together one epic finish to the contest.
With the Lady Chargers clinging to a 35-34 lead right at the midway mark, the Lady Titans found one final groove to travel on to finish the night strong, netting the final nine points — a scoreless jaunt that included some big help at the line from both Meyah Putnam and Evelyn Travis, to put a padlock on a successful night on the hardwood.
Charging the offensive efforts for the Lady Chargers was McKenna Ferris and her team-leading 11 points. Bailey Mullen chipped in with eight points to go with her eight rebounds, while MacKenna Mullen had seven to add into the mix.
Canisteo-Greenwood returns home to the Valley for a quick turnaround clash this afternoon, hosting the Lyons Lady Lions in a 2:30 p.m. tip-off.

Thursday Roundup: B-R grapplers earn wins from MacDonell, Wilber, but string of forfeits power Letchworth to 54-16 win over Wolverines; C-R volleyball wins 4th in last 5 in sweep of B-R
BOLIVAR — With the end of the regular season on the mat beginning to come into view, the Wolverines of Bolivar-Richburg were now down to their final two matches in their home headquarters. Their first arrived in full on Thursday with the Letchworth Legends in town for a visit.
Only five contested matches graced the center stage downstairs at Bolivar-Richburg, with Tavyn MacDonell and Cameron Wilber each finding their way towards victory in their respective matches. But courtesy of six forfeit wins and a trio of wins on the mat of their own, Letchworth set up shop for their dominant performance across the board against the Wolverines, as they exited town with a 54-16 victory.
The match began at 138 pounds — a threshold where the Legends collected three straight forfeit victories to establish their lead over Bolivar-Richburg before claiming their first win in action from Braiden Schroeder, who battled into the last minute of the second period to record the pinfall win over Bolivar-Richburg’s Haizen Hall at 170 pounds.
MacDonell then registered the first win for the Wolverines on the mat a match later, racking up the points in rapid succession to clinch a 17-2 technical fall victory over Ayden Miller at 190 pounds.
Following another Letchworth win at 190 pounds in just 13 seconds, the Wolverines countered with what was their last win of the night from Wilber at 285 pounds, as he survived a tough bout with Ryan Gordon to secure the pinfall decision at the 1:30 mark of the opening period.
The remainder of the match would reign supreme for the Legends, as they gathered three more forfeit wins to go with a hard-fought victory elongating across the first two periods at 116 pounds.
The Wolverines will close out their regular season with a home tri-match for Senior Night, hosting both Wellsville and Fillmore/Keshequa on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Campbell-Savona 54, Houghton Academy 40
HOUGHTON — For the second time in three contests, the Panthers of Houghton Academy were stung by Campbell-Savona.
After a tough battle from start to finish over the road in Campbell the first time around last week, the Panthers utilized a strong first half showing to set the stage on the road, as they raced their way towards victory in series-sweeping fashion by a 54-40 final count on Thursday in Houghton.
Following a 79-37 loss the previous night just up the road in Belmont against Genesee Valley/Belfast, the Panthers recovered quickly and used an early three-point presence to their fullest advantage against Houghton Academy (4-8), with Dawson Shoemaker, Tavion Mathis and Chance Miller all scoring one from downtown to help the team jet towards a 15-8 first quarter lead.
The advantage was held firm across the half, as the visiting claw of Panthers used every bit of momentum they garnered in the first quarter to assemble a powerful 17-point stanza to close out the opening 16-minute sequence, with Mathis reigniting from downtown with two more of the team’s eight three-pointers in the frame to help claim a 32-19 halftime lead.
Both teams would trade even exchanges across the second half, which would allow Campbell-Savona to maintain their advantage, as they journeyed towards a series-sweeping victory.
Despite the loss, Houghton Academy witnessed a spectacular game from Jack Prentice, who scored a game-high 31 points. Gavin Martino had six points to pair with his 12 rebounds off the glass.
Allegany County’s Panthers will prepare for a rapid turnaround tonight, as they hit the road for a 7:30 p.m. visit to Cuba-Rushford.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Andover/Whitesville 49, Bolivar-Richburg 38
BOLIVAR — It was a close battle all throughout the first half between Andover/Whitesville and Bolivar-Richburg on Thursday. With the degree of separation standing at just a single point going into the locker room, the second half provided an opportunity for one team to bust away from the other.
In the third quarter, Andover/Whitesville set their plan in motion from all angles of the floor, using a stellar inside presence from both Stella Bledsoe and Olivia Waters on one end, while the defense held the host Lady Wolverines to just two shots from the field, taking a one-point advantage and extending it insurmountably to proceed and finish off a 49-38 victory on the road.
The two teams were neck-and-neck after a 3-0 Lady Wolverines lead was erased in favor of six straight from Andover/Whitesville (9-1) in return, with each team battling back-and-forth with multiple exchanges to help give the visitors a 12-9 lead.
In the second quarter, Andover/Whitesville’s three-point game came alive, while a dynamic outing from Carmen Crowley aided in establishing the offense for the Lady Wolverines (5-7) on the other end, with the visitors sinking a trio of triples — two from Bledsoe, while Crowley knocked down eight of her game-high 17 points within the frame to set up a nip-and-tuck exchange to close the half.
But when the second half arrived, the game’s propulsion sided with Andover/Whitesville all throughout, as they scavenged a robust 17-5 jaunt of Bolivar-Richburg to officially pull away from their grasp.
Bledsoe and Waters, along with Graci Lewis-Ellison, all served as three key cogs in the machine for the visitors, each scoring 14 team-high points for the attack.

Cuba-Rushford 60, Friendship/Scio 25
FRIENDSHIP — Brynn Lavery assembled another phenomenal performance for the Lady Rebels of Cuba-Rushford on Thursday.
After surviving a first half battle right alongside Friendship/Scio going into the break, the Lady Rebels senior began to get red hot in the third quarter, launching a barrage of three-pointers to set the tone for the remainder of battle, as they went on to break away from their opposition with a dynamic 60-25 victory.
The Lady Rebels (9-6) found their groove in the early stages of battle, landing an assortment of baskets while limiting Friendship/Scio to just one — an Emily Lamberson three-pointer, to help set up an 11-3 advantage out of the gate. After the two foes planted near-even frames of offense in the second to close the half, the temperature was raised tremendously a short time later.
In the second half, Cuba-Rushford took full control of everything they saw against the Friendship/Scio (2-10) defense, as they accounted for a pair of 17-4 runs beginning in the third quarter behind Lavery and her fiery hand from long range, sinking four triples to ensure their lead remained intact going forward.
