Alfred State riders display their awards after earning High Point honors in both the morning and afternoon shows

The Alfred State Western Equestrian team earned High Point honors for both shows on Saturday at the Bromeley-Daggett Equestrian Center. In the afternoon show, Abigail Hurd (Belmont) rode to High Point Rider honors while Alexandra Hurd (Belmont, NY) earned Reserve High-Point honors.
Abigail Hurd won Level 2 Horsemanship and was second in Ranch Riding in the PM show to earn top honors. She was third in Ranch Riding in the AM competition.
Alexandra Hurd took the top spot in Level 2 Horsemanship in both shows and was fourth in both shows in reining.
In the morning show, Laura Mills (Greenwood, NY), won Beginner, Keira Sulkey (Watkins Glen, NY) won Level 1, and Ashley Wolfe (Painted Post, NY) won Open Reining. Madeline Cassanova (Cicero, NY) was second in Rookie B and Emma Luckenbach (Bath, NY) was second in Level 1. Mackenzie Grosskopt (Niagara Falls, NY), Cassi Marucci (Clymer, NY), and Wolfe earned third place finishes.
In the PM show, Marucci won at Rookie B to join Abigail and Alexandra Hurd with top honors. Wolfe was second in Open, Jordan Henry (Little Valley, NY) was second in Rookie B, and the trio of Cassanova, Grosskopt, and Sulkey all earned third.
The Pioneers have a long break before competing again at Alfred University on February 8.
