Sad news came through this week when Bob Decker passed away after a courageous five-year battle with cancer.
Bob was well known in the Southern Tier for his kind demeanor, helping children and families live better lives, and of course, as an incredible musician.
He did all of this with his wife, Gena, by his side. From music to teaching, they were inseparable.
During the last five years, the family has done everything to pay for medical bills, but they fell just short.
This GoFundMe is to help the family pay off the bills racked up from travel expenses, health care co-pays and medications as they make funeral service plans.
Natalie Young set up the GoFundMe for the Decker family, as she was a teacher with Gena for years.
Natalie writes, “Gena is one of my best friends and THE most incredible kindergarten teacher EVER! Her husband, Bob, is equally incredible as a retired school psychologist.
She described in detail the toll cancer took on Bob’s body over the past five years, which makes his fight even more remarkable. He never let that affect him positive outlook on life or take away from relationships. In fact, he inspired others.
“Bob is such an incredible man,” Natalie writes. “His strength and positivity over the last several years is nothing short of amazing. He is the rock to his family and Gena’s absolute best friend on this beautiful Mother Earth. The Deckers are truly the most selfless, giving and kind humans on the planet … Let’s show them some love!❤️”
