Helen Roper Romp Raises Funds for Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department

Dozens of friends gathered in Wellsville, NY, for an unforgettable evening filled with laughter, camaraderie, and nostalgia—all in honor of Three’s Company’s iconic 1970s sitcom character, Helen Roper. Dressed in colorful caftans, gaudy jewelry, oversized sunglasses, and signature red wigs, attendees fully embraced the quirky spirit of the beloved TV personality.
But the evening wasn’t just about fun—it also served a meaningful purpose. The group raised funds for the Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department, joining a growing trend of themed gatherings that combine entertainment with philanthropy.
“We chose to donate to the Fire Department because they’re always there for our community, whether it’s during fires or floods,” said Debra Meyers, co-coordinator of the Wellsville Roper Romp. “We were thrilled to collect over $1,200 to support their vital work.”
Donations were gathered in a fireman’s boot, a nod to fire departments’ traditional boot drive fundraisers.
Stephanie LaFever, fellow co-coordinator of the event, reflected on its success. “This is the second year we’ve hosted the Roper Romp. Last year, we donated to the Hart Comfort House. Both events have been such a joy, and it’s incredibly rewarding to give back to causes that matter so much to our community.”
