Governor Hochul provides updates on wildfires, thanks first responders

A forest floor full of dry leaves and standing fields of goldenrod are making officials nervous about new wildfires starting. They have good reason to be as a major fire rages near Green Lake NY and the NY-NJ border.

Hochul instituted the statewide ban while thanking firefighters and crews for the effort. Allegany County sent seven teams to the “Jennings Creek Fire,” earlier this week:

“I’m incredibly grateful to the first responders and those on the frontlines that are working around the clock to stop the spread of these fires to protect their fellow New Yorkers.”
