The tour starts today! Don’t miss these new stops
From the Allegany Artisans,
Although there are many long-time members of Allegany Artisans, there are usually a few new members each year. This year is no different. Most of these artists and craftspeople have been practicing their craft or art for years but have decided to participate this year in the studio tour.
In the Cuba area, Joy Alyssa Day and BJ Johnson will exhibit blown glass creations in their studio. Their work ranges from small seasonal-related items to large corporate installations. If you love the color and magic of glass, this should be one of your stops on the studio tour. Their studio is in the barn at 5471 Route 305, Cuba, NY.

In Wellsville, you will find Seth Boehnke, a metalsmith or more interestingly a bladesmith. Seth has been hand-forging a collection of chef knives, steak, and hunting knives from high-carbon steel. Part of Seth’s creations include a variety of interesting handles as an intricate part of his knives. His studio is behind General Roofing on Stevens Street in Wellsville, NY.

Jessica Borchert will be exhibiting her paintings and mixed media pieces with happy bright colors at her studio in Wellsville. Describing her paintings she relates “Many of my images focus on the beauty in organic forms, particularly animals and nature. Utilizing abstract colors, playful line quality, and representational subject matter, my hope is that the viewer will slow down and find the beauty in the mundane.” Jessica is displaying her work at 3889 Foundation Drive, Wellsville NY

Also in Wellsville, Kim Kasperski and Bill Cavanaugh will be showing stained glass creations, from seasonal to mystical, and repurposed items turned into lamps and other items. Kim crafts several items in stained glass. Bill transforms antique toys, fire equipment, and other found items into unique, useful objects. Rework Designs in Wood and Stained Glass is located at 52 Merriam Heights, Wellsville, NY.

Susan Doran and her artwork can be found in Belmont in an 1860 Carpenter Gothic structure, the Belvidere Cornerstone. Susan creations include papermaking, paper marbling, book art journals, and Victorian hair art pieces. They are displayed in this interesting building which can be found at 5781 County Road 20, Belmont, NY.
