Shayler and Green will debate in the Nancy Howe Auditorium at 7pm, submit your question for the candidates!
By Andrew Harris
The Village of Wellsville will elect the next mayor in less than a month. Republican Mayor Randy Shayler is asking voters to choose him for a third term. Independent Challenger Marshall Green is asking for the votes to become the first non-affliated/Independent mayor in village history.
Both candidates will join moderator John Anderson on the stage at the Nancy Howe Auditorium for a ninety minute question answer style debate. Readers may submit questions anonymously using our contact form.
Sponsored by Pizza King of Wellsville, the doors will open to the auditorium at 630pm and the debate will begin at 7pm. Expect the candidates to be asked about recent topics like the municipal parking lot legal struggle, the future of the movie theatre, and the challengers recent demand for village police department reforms. Bigger picture topics like village taxes, property blight, and the local economy are likely subjects for Green and Shayler to debate.
The event is open and free to the public to attend a live-in person debate. This debate will not be live-streamed but will be recorded for future reporting. Grab a friend and participate in local government!!
