New York State Police have reported that an assistant District Attorney serving Allegany County was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

Troopers charged Jake Rood, 30, with endangering the welfare of a child. Rood was issued an appearance ticket.

His boss, Allegany County District Attorney Ian Jones, was quick to confirm that Rood was placed on administrative leave and the Allegany County Human Resources department would decide his fate as a county employee.

Jones issued this statement:

“I have been made aware of the allegations and the ADA has been placed on leave, at least until we know more. Obviously, due process must play out for anyone alleged to have committed a crime, and that will happen here. I will say, as prosecutors, we cannot enforce the law but not follow it – no one is above the law.”
