The situation in Alfred NY has “blown up,” to use modern lingo.
On August 23 the Village of Alfred put police chief Paul Griffith on paid leave. Locals soon started wondering why and soon realized that Paul Griffith had also voiced bewilderment at the move.
We reported on that move by the Village of Alfred and on the subsequent public meeting which drew a large crowd of support for Griffith.
Today Buffalo News Channel 7 WKBW reporter Maki Becker made the trip to Alfred to ask some questions. That full reporting and the video are below. The visit by the ABC News affiliate didn’t uncover any revelatory information but did have the village Mayor Jim Ninos indicate that an investigation was underway. Ninos did not say who was conducting the investigation or when a report on the matter would be available.
We asked Griffith attorney Maureen Bass after the WKBW reporting was released:
So now what?
Her answer was simple, “No matter what, the village has damaged his reputation and hurt a good man.”
