WELLSVILLE, N.Y. – The Wellsville school board voted this evening to appoint Dr. Colleen Taggerty as the interim superintendent of schools. She will start Monday, Aug. 26.

She was appointed during tonight’s regular school board meeting to replace current superintendent David Foster.

Dr. Taggerty is the former superintendent of the Olean City School District, where she served from 2008 to 2017. Most recently, she was the president of Archbishop Walsh and Southern Tier Catholic Schools in Olean and before that did an interim superintendent stint at the Fredonia Central School District. She has extensive administrative experience with local BOCES systems and has been adjunct faculty at several area colleges and universities.

“I’m excited for this opportunity to work with Wellsville’s students, families and staff during this time of transition,” Dr. Taggerty said.

She will serve as interim superintendent until the board finds Mr. Foster’s replacement. The board will begin its superintendent search immediately.
