Beverly R. Robinson, 82, passed away on Wednesday (September 4, 2024) at Highland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center as a result of a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Robinson was born in Cuba on September 21, 1941 to Robert L. and Esther R. (Benjamin) Comstock. She was a 1959 graduate of Belfast Central School. Beverly attended the Wyoming County Community Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1962 as a Registered Nurse.
Beverly worked at Cuba Memorial Hospital, Bethesda Hospital in Hornell, and Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester as an operating room nurse. While living in Maryland, she worked at Anne Arundel County Psychiatric Residential Treatment Center and finished her career in elder care as a nursing home nurse.
Beverly is survived by two children, Peter (Kimberly) Robinson of Edwards, Colo. and Jennifer Robinson of Oak Park Ill.; three siblings, Kay Comstock of Belmont, Nancy (Thomas) Lowe of Nashua N.H. and Robin (Douglas) Harrison of Belfast; three grandchildren, Alex Robinson, Matthew Ray and Mallory Ray; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a brother, Douglas Comstock.
Growing up on a dairy farm, Beverly learned responsibility at an early age. As the oldest child, she was entrusted with a great deal of care for her younger siblings and nurtured them much like a mother hen. Later, as a mother of two, those skills learned early helped her to be a great mom. She loved her children and instilled in them good habits like doing chores and holding them accountable. And “terrifying” them with a wooden spoon on occasion left a pleasant memory with them in later years. When it came to her children’s sporting events and after school activities, Mom was always there.
Beverly also put her nurturing skills to good use as she was an excellent nurse. Caring for her patients came easy for her.
Beverly possessed a great sense of humor. She loved working in her flower garden and in her younger days she liked to ski. Additionally, Beverly enjoyed dancing and traveling. A few of her favorite destinations included Jamaica, the Bahamas New York City and Mexico. Beverly was a long-time member of the Belfast United Methodist Church and contributed a lot of her talents to the Belfast Historical Society.
There will be no prior visitation. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at a time to be announced. Local arrangements are under the direction of Treusdell Funeral Home in Belfast.
