Hornell City Police charged Michael Earl Bloom, 33, of 128 River St., Hornell, with second-degree attempted murder and other charges for an alleged incident in Hornell.
The incident took place on Saturday night around 10 p.m. on Rockwell Street in Hornell. An investigation by the Hornell City Police Department turned up details on the case. Police said three to four small caliber shots were fired in the direction of a person on a rear porch of a house. No one was struck or injured, police said.
A parked vehicle was struck by one of the shots from the gun, police said. Witnesses told investigators Bloom sped away from the scene.
After an investigation with several agencies, Hornell Police said they learned of Bloom’s identity and where he would be located. Police said at this point, Bloom turned himself in without and further incidents.
Bloom was charged with the attempted murder charge, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, first-degree criminal contempt, two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Bloom went to the county office building for CAP Court early this morning and sent to the Steuben County Jail in Bath without bail. A hearing will take place this week.

The Sun has learned Bloom allegedly knew who the person was and it was not a random shooting.
Hornell Police were assisted by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police at the scene.
Hornell Police said this is a continuing investigation.
