The David A. Howe Library will host lecture at 3pm in Monday Club Room
David Brooks is the Historic Site Assistant and Director of Education at Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site in Fort Hunter, Montgomery County, New York. Schoharie Crossing interprets and preserves the significant history of the Erie Canal and its contributions to the state as well as the nation. Brooks also sits on the Board of Trustees for the Fulton County Historical Society as well as the Montgomery County Historical Society, is the former president of the Mohawk Valley Museum Consortium, and former member of the Palatine Settlement Society.
His research often uncovers interesting pieces of history that do not always fit into the topic narratives he is looking into, or they leave loose ends. Most of these illustrate the way that history is connected across time and geographical space, and that ultimately, people are people, for the good or faults and all. He uses that to connect modern humans to moments in history, sometimes leaving us to wonder….
He will be at the library August 1st at 3pm to do a free presentation on the Erie Canal called “History & Hearsay.” Join us for a virtual tour of the site grounds with interesting bits of history & mystery.
Within the set of tales is one lie. Can you spot it? A Q&A will follow the presentation.
Free and open to everyone.
