Donation will help purchase blankets for newborns

From Jones Memorial Hospital,

Recently, the Dr. F Clifton Miller Birthing Center at Jones Memorial Hospital received a large donation from the Andover First Baptist Church in Andover, NY.

Church members competed in teams, girls vs. boys, to collect change from May 12, 2024 through June 16, for this worthwhile initiative. In just over a month, the boys raised $603.45, “beating” the girl at $585.65, thanks to a last minute donation. The total donated to the birthing center was $1,189.10. These funds will be used to supply the sleep sacks that are given out to every family at the birthing center. Each sleep sack costs $8 so this donation will fund 148 blankets, almost a six-month supply.

Amanda Green, maternity director at Jones Memorial stated, “We are incredibly grateful to our local community. Our safe sleep initiative at the hospital relies partly on the sleep sacks to be given to area families. It’s wonderful to have such strong community support for this program.”

The Dr. F Clifton Miller Birthing Center at Jones Memorial births around 400 babies annually. For more information on the hospital or the birthing center or for a list of providers accepting new patients, please visit jones.urmc.edu.
