Hume NY farm among seven awarded in NY
ITHACA, N.Y. — During this traditional June is Dairy Month, it would be an udder failure not to announce the 2024 NY Dairy of Distinction Award winners. Since 1983 the NY Dairy of Distinction (DOD) program has been awarding qualifying dairy applicants the notorious Dairy of Distinction metal sign to hang proudly for all to see from the roadside. Applicants must ship milk and score a 90 or above to receive this distinguished award. Farms are re-evaluated each year by county representatives to ensure that farm owners are keeping up with the program standards. The NY DOD program is grateful for the continued support from the American Dairy Association Northeast (ADANE) and for the time and dedication from many Cornell Cooperative Extension personnel across the state that keep this volunteer-based organization operating.
