On Tuesday night, the Bolivar-Richburg board of education announced a search process with over a dozen candidates that involved hiring a firm discovered the best person to run the school was in the school.
A lifelong resident of the community, Margeson has made an impact on thousands of students as a teacher and most recently a principal.
The school board put out this press release Tuesday night:
Earlier this evening, the Bolivar-Richburg Central School District Board of Education appointed Mr. Jeffrey Margeson to be the next Superintendent of Schools.
The search process began in January of 2024, and over the past six months, search consultants from the firm School Leadership, LLC vetted more than a dozen interested candidates. After discussing each candidate with the search consultant and interviewing several high-quality applicants, the school board determined that Mr. Margeson is the best candidate to lead the district.
He will begin his work as the Superintendent of School for BRCS, effective July 1, 2024. Margeson, a life-long district resident, has been both a teacher and principal in the school system prior to this appointment.
He began his career in Bolivar-Richburg as a Secondary Art Teacher in the fall of 2003 and stayed in that position for 19 years. In addition to his work as a classroom teacher, Margeson has served the District as a coach and advisor and has also been a part of several contract negotiations as a member of the Bolivar-Richburg Faculty Association.
Board President Amanda McDonnell indicated that Mr. Margeson has the characteristics and leadership traits that will benefit the school district and community. She said, “Jeff is a bright, and dedicated educator. His deep connection with the school and passion for the Bolivar-Richburg community helped him rise to the top of an outstanding pool of candidates. We are excited to appoint Mr. Margeson as our next Superintendent. He loves this community and has proven his dedication over the past 20 years. We are confident that Jeff will continue to provide steady and insightful leadership for the district as BRCS looks to the future.”
Margeson added, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve the Bolivar-Richburg faculty, staff, students, and community as their new Superintendent of Schools. I look forward to continuing my work with the staff on behalf of all the students and the entire community,” he said. “I am absolutely thrilled and honored to step into this position. I love the B-R community and it is with great pride and enthusiasm that I move from Principal to Superintendent. This is a dream come true for me personally, and I look forward to working tirelessly for all BRCS students!”
McDonnell finds the character traits Margeson possesses to be admirable. “He is an effective communicator, a great people person, and a hard-working individual,” she said. “He can relate to our community and our students, and we have a great deal of trust and confidence in him as our next leader.”
Interim Superintendent Chuck Leichner is very pleased to pass the reins over to Margeson.
“It has been a pleasure to work with Jeff over the course of the 2023-24 school year, and I’m happy for the entire Bolivar-Richburg community that he will be taking over the role of Superintendent. I believe Mr. Margeson will have tremendous success as the next superintendent here!”
