Eugene H. “Gene” Allen, 74, Wellsville

Eugene H. “Gene” Allen, age 74, of the River Road passed away on Friday June 7, 2024th at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. He was born on February 6, 1950 in Wellsville to Edward and Alice [Main] Allen.

Gene was a lifelong resident of this area who graduated from Wellsville High School in 1970. He proudly served in the US Army from 1972 until 1979. He was employed as a truck driver for A.L. Blades in Hornell until his retirement. He was a member and past chief of the Alma Fire Department and was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Gene was a loving husband who enjoyed his time in nature particularly fishing and gardening. He treasured time spent with his beloved dogs Midnight and later Bella. He was very social and made everyone he met feel like the most important person he knew. Gene inspired his family to be the best version of themselves.

Gene is survived by his son Cory [Melissa] Allen of Victor as well as a large extended family in which he took great pride, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.

Gene was predeceased by his parents and a brother Edward Allen as well as a sister Audine “Cookie” Allen.

A service with full military honors will he held on Saturday July 27, 2024 at 1 pm in the Allentown Volunteer Fire Hall on Church Street in Allentown followed by a celebration of his life.

Memorials in Gene’s name may be made to the Alma Volunteer Fire Department, 5778 County Road 18, Alma, NY 14708.
