Are you passionate about safety and making a positive impact in a close-knit community? The Village of Andover is seeking a dedicated person to fulfill the role as Police Chief or Officer in Charge position.
Position Overview:
As Police Chief or Officer in Charge you will have the opportunity to lead our Police Department in serving and protecting the community. You will work closely with Village Officials, Village Residents, and Local Organizations to ensure the safety and well-being of our community members. The position will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of law enforcement operations, including patrol, investigations, community outreach, and crime prevention initiatives, Scheduling, attending board meetings and reporting to the Mayor.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide leadership and direction to the police department staff
· Develop and implement department policies and procedures
· Coordinate with other law enforcement agencies and community partners
· Foster positive relationships with residents and businesses
· Ensure effective response to emergencies and enforcement of laws
· Manage department budget and resources
Qualifications:
· Police supervisor certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire
· Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
· Commitment to community-oriented policing and problem-solving
· Pass a background check
· Must have previous law enforcement experience
