July 4-7 will be four days of fun to mark 200 years

ANDOVER, NY – A host of events and activities for all ages will highlight the Town of Andover’s Bicentennial Celebration. A committee planning the celebration announces a recently-finalized schedule of events which will be held during the Fourth of July weekend, July 4-7, 2024.
The four-day celebration commences with the popular Fourth of July Celebration, organized by the Andover Fourth of July Committee. The Fourth of July Parade will be held at 10 a.m. A carnival, with kids’ rides and merchant and food vendors, will be held on the Andover Central School grounds and the fireworks display will be presented in the evening.
Three bands will play throughout the day at the school grounds. Sam and Dan will take the stage from 2-4 p.m.; Longshot will perform from 5-7 p.m.; and Louie and the Peelers will play from 8 p.m. until dusk.
The following events and activities are planned for the Andover Bicentennial Celebration:
Friday, July 5
- Historical Walk through the village of Andover, all day. Maps will be provided at the Andover Historical Society, East Greenwood Street, and signage will be posted at featured stops.
- Kids Movie Night on the school grounds. Gates open at 7:30 p.m., movie at 8:15 p.m. Ice cream, popcorn, and water will be provided, free, courtesy of the Andover Chamber of Commerce. Bring your own chairs and blankets.
- Andover Haunted House Party. Live music by “Lucky Number,” food truck, 6-10 p.m.
Saturday, July 6
- Pickleball Tournament in the school gymnasium, beginning at noon. Visit the Andover Bicentennial Facebook page to for more details.
- Grease, Gears and Grooves Car Show, with DJ and food vendors, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on school grounds, free.
- Talk by Craig Braack, retired Allegany County historian, “A Brief Look at the Railroad History of Allegany County,” 2 p.m., Andover Historical Society, East Greenwood Street.
- Foam Glow Party, school grounds — fun for the whole family, 7-10 p.m., free.
- Live music by “Off The Wagon,” food truck, at The Village Pub, Main Street — Music is from 6-10 p.m., food truck all day.
Sunday, July 7
- Ecumenical Church Service, school grounds — 11 a.m., refreshments provided, free. Please bring your own chairs.
The Andover Bicentennial Committee expresses its appreciation for support provided by a number of Andover civic and community organizations which have helped in putting the celebration together. They include the Andover Chamber of Commerce, Andover Central School District, Andover Historical Society, Andover Fourth of July Committee, Andover Haunted House Committee, and Andover Lions Club.
