“I am so grateful for the opportunities I have had over the last six years”

Dear Wellsville Voters and Community Members,

Today I woke up feeling a sense of pride. Most notably pride in being a member of a community that actively made the choice to preserve the well-being of our children and staff, even while opting for change. Along with a personal point of pride in knowing that the town I try so hard to work for values what I bring to the table enough to show up for me. Some may see coming in 4th place by one point as a loss, but to me, this doesn’t feel like losing. It just feels like change.

I want to offer a sincere congratulations to the incoming board members. Over the next three years you will get to witness the amazing accomplishments of our students and staff. You will get to participate in the PLAN pilot program, and other initiatives that I believe you’ll find to be a point of pride among yourselves as you go. Most importantly you will get to experience what it is like to understand the district and it’s needs from all sides, while uplifting the voices of our community members. Somedays it will be heavy, and thankless. There will be times where you’ll want to defend the decisions you stand behind knowing that you can’t…But those moments are nothing compared to the moments where accomplishments and successes shine bright. I truly believe each of you will be an asset to our district and our community, and I am excited to see what your fresh ideas and perspectives bring to the table.

To everyone who voted, and everyone who supported me – Thank you. Thank you for taking the time to get involved, for your kind words, and for reminding me that the work I do everyday in our community has value that is well received. I am so grateful for the opportunities I have had over the last six years, for the knowledge and perspective I have gained, and the relationships I have built. As this election cycle ends, please don’t lose the motivation to participate, we need this energy in every local election.

To the Teachers, staff, admin and students, it has been an absolute pleasure to witness the growth and development that has taken place over the last six years. I have learned so much from all of you, and you inspired me to continue to grow into an advocate for our community.

Sincerely,

Heather Gill
