I was born here, graduated from Wellsville in 1991, and raised my family here
This letter is for the taxpayers in the Wellsville Central school district. My name is Jim Wixson and I am one of the 13 people running for School Board. I started thinking about running for School Board last year but was too late to get my petition in, so after thinking about it for a few months, I decided this year I wasn’t going to miss out. I got my petition in as soon as I found out they were available.
I have no hidden agenda. The only thing I want to do is work to make the school system here in Wellsville the best that it can be, both for my grandchildren and for all the students who attend Wellsville schools. I was born here, graduated from Wellsville in 1991, and raised my family here.
In 2006, I took a disability retirement from Alstom in Wellsville. In 2009, I started volunteering with Youth for Christ and spent the next 12-13 years mentoring teens at the youth center. In that time, I was asked to be on their board of directors. I served on the board for a couple of years before our structure changed and it was taken over by the national office. I don’t have specialized college degrees like some candidates, but what I do have is life experience, and being retired gives me the time to put into the board that I believe is needed to make positive changes in our school district.
I would just like to ask everyone to get out on the 21st and vote, because no matter what, your vote matters.
Thank you,
James Wixson
