If given the opportunity to serve, I am committed to representing the voices of all stakeholders in our community

Dear Voters,

As a passionate advocate for quality education and community engagement, I am excited to announce my candidacy for Wellsville school board.

With an education in Communication and a career focused on building and maintaining business relationships, I am confident in my ability to effectively communicate and represent the diverse perspectives of students, teachers, parents, and community members on the school board.

During my eight years in higher education, including serving on the executive leadership team at Alfred State, I have gained valuable experience in budgeting, strategic planning, and decision-making processes that directly impact students’ experiences and outcomes.  This experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of the connection between secondary education and college readiness, both academically and emotionally.

My involvement in the College Council for Alfred State, which shares similarities with a school board, has further honed my skills in reviewing plans, upholding regulations, and making budgetary recommendations.  I believe this experience uniquely qualifies me to contribute meaningfully to the school board’s objectives.

Outside of my professional life, I am deeply engaged in our community, particularly through youth sports such as Little League, WAW Soccer, and WGSA Softball.  Serving as President of WGSA and coaching numerous young athletes over the last 14 years, has given me a firsthand understanding of student needs and concerns.  Additionally, having children who attend Wellsville Central School further grounds me in the realities and challenges facing our students and our teachers.

If given the opportunity to serve, I am committed to representing the voices of all stakeholders in our community and advocating for policies and initiatives that prioritize the success and well-being of every student.  As a dedicated community member, parent, and education advocate I will bring my skills and experiences to the school board to ensure a bright future for our district.

Thank you for your consideration, please vote on May 21st.

Sincerely,

Trish Haggerty
