Volunteers are welcome to help out on Sunday April 28

By Andrew Harris

The daffodils have been putting on a nice show, tulips are just starting to bloom, and the community garden on Main Street Wellsville is starting to turn green again!

After a winter of rest, the soil is starting to warm up, begging for seeds, herbs, and vegetables to be planted. The founder of the Fassett Greenspace, Cassandra Bull, will be visiting for the weekend to help kick off the season.

On Sunday April 28th, from 11am until 2pm, volunteers will be doing some soil preparations, planting of spring crops, and general cleanup. All are welcome, please be prepared to get a little “dirty.”

The Fassett Greenspace welcomes all local schools, civic groups, youth groups, and individuals to volunteer and utilize this community space. In the past groups have held political rallys, growing workshops, musical performances, harvest parties, and hundreds of quiet conversations between friends! Anyone can visit, meet up, or bring an instrument for a garden performance. If your or your group are interested in volunteering or utilizing the space please contact us via our Facebook page, or email anytime, artforruralamerica@gmail.com.

The gardens at the Fassett Greenspace are for the community, harvesting herbs, fruit, and vegetables in a respectful way is always FREE!! Just please don’t pull the flowers as they are for everyone to enjoy.

GREAT NEWS!! The William Underhill water fountain will be back flowing in the first week of May!! Stop and relax next to this working fountain sculpted by a true “fine artist.”
