Cole All-Star Circus Takes Center Stage at Genesee Valley Central School

Billy Martin’s Cole All-Star Circus is coming to Genesee Valley Central School on Thursday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m

From Genesee Valley Central School,

The circus was originally founded in 1938 by James M. Cole and has been under the direction of Olean native Billy Martin since 1987. Visiting over 100 schools in New York and Pennsylvania each year, the indoor circus is designed as a fund-raising event for school groups and organizations.

At Genesee Valley, proceeds from the event will be directed to the school’s summer drama program. Last year’s summer drama of Annie Jr. performed to a full auditorium. This year’s production of Seussical Jr. will be open to a wider range of students from grades 4-12.

Drama Department Director, Donna Slawson values the summer drama program for the opportunities it provides to students to learn the craft of theater. She commented: “funds raised through the circus will help offset the costs of the production, also providing each student involved with a cast shirt and the opportunity to see a live professional production. Last year’s students had the privilege of seeing a performance of Frozen at the Rochester Auditorium Theater. For many of our students this was their first exposure to professional theater.”

Tickets for the circus can be obtained by contacting Mrs. Slawson at dslawson@genvalley.org. Adult tickets are $15 in advance ($20 at the door); student tickets are $5 in advance; and kids 12 and under are free with coupon and a paid adult (limit 2 free children per adult).
