On March 15th, 34 members of the Arkport Central School’s Archery Team competed in the New York State Bullseye Tournament in Syracuse, NY.  Over 600 archers came from across New York State to compete in this qualifying tournament for National Archery in Schools Program. Members of NASP compete in international style target shooting. This year, Arkport Junior, Bryant Reynolds was named the New York Champion at the tournament when he secured the top score for high school male division and overall male archer for New York State with a score of 286 out of 300, including 19 bullseyes out of 30 attempts.

In the NASP program, participants practice the skill of discipline, self-control, patience, and focus with strict adherence to safety protocols.  This inclusive team sport is unique in that every archer uses the same equipment, so no participant has a technical advantage. The only bow participants may use is a “Genesis” compound, which has no let-off and is adjustable from 10-20 pounds in draw weight at any draw length. The only arrow used is the Easton 1820 aluminum “Genesis” arrow.

Bryant will travel to Kentucky in May to compete at the Eastern National Competition alongside the top ten archers from each state in the Eastern Division.

Other members of the Arkport Archery Team who placed within the top 10 of their division earning a spot at Eastern Nationals include Emily Holbrook placing 9th for the Elementary Girls Division, Keaton Oliver, Declan Button, and Max Marcus who placed 6th, 8th, and 9th in the Elementary Boys Division respectively.  For Middle School, Madeline Marcus placed 2nd in the Girls division and Stephen Hoeffner placed 5th in the boys division.  Additionally, Grace Groves earned a spot in the High School girls division by placing 5th and Curtis Hartman, Nolan Morey, Aydan Button, and Bryer Drake earned their spot in the top ten by placing 4th, 6th, 7th, and 10th in the High School Boys Division.
