Portville, New York – Wednesday, March 20, 2024 – Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID JR. is playing at the PCS Auditorium starting on April 19 & 20, 2024. Show times are April 19 at 7:00 pm, and April 20 at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm. The musical is based on the 2008 Broadway production and the 1989 animated feature film. The multi-grade cast (grades 2-12) contains approximately 100 students.
Cheri Maxson, Director and Advisor of the PCS Drama Club said that she is, “extremely proud of the hard work and dedication of the cast, crew and production team on this show. Rehearsals and work on technical elements began back in December.” Maxson adds, “I really enjoy seeing how our younger cast members and Littles look up to the older cast members. It’s such a right of passage as children go from being in the Little’s ensemble, to the junior high ensemble, to having a small speaking role, to one day being one of the leads. I have seen so many kids make that transition over the years. It is so rewarding.”
This classic Disney title contains all of the songs from the Academy Award® winning animated feature film as well as three new songs from the Broadway show. THE LITTLE MERMAID JR. takes place in a magical kingdom beneath the sea, where a beautiful young mermaid named Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she’ll have to defy her father, the king of the sea, escape the clutches of an evil sea witch and convince a prince that she’s the girl with the perfect voice.
The musical is a familiar story to Disney fans of all ages, reuniting the audience with characters such as Ariel, Prince Eric, Sebastian, Scuttle, Flounder, King Triton and Ursula. Young children are invited to dress like their favorite Little Mermaid character or sea creature! The stage and auditorium will be transformed into a magical “under the sea” immersive experience for the audiences. There will be a fun photo opportunity, a new character box fundraiser and a concession stand available.
