The Bolivar-Richburg Elementary School collaborated with the American Heart Association for the 9th year by taking part in the Kids Heart Challenge.

Focusing on whole body wellness, helping students improve their own health and character, while raising life-saving donations for the American Heart Association, the Kids Heart Challenge seeks to help kids who are facing heart-health issues.

As part of the challenge, all students in grades Pre-K through fifth grade took part in Finn’s Challenge to learn hands-only CPR and how to recognize the signs of a stroke. Students also learned different ways to keep their heart, body, and mind healthy through the example of the Kids Heart Challenge Heroes.

Over the course of the challenge, the students and families of Bolivar-Richburg Elementary raised a total of $15,303.03 for the American Heart Association. Zoey Galayda was the top fundraiser at the school, bringing in a total of $1,302. Two other students were close behind, with Levi Miller raising $1,200 and Derrick Lipka raising $1,055. At a school-wide assembly, Zoey, Levi, and Derrick had the opportunity to slime their physical education teachers. Six other top earning students had the chance to pie a teacher or staff member.

Amanda Auman, Physical Education Teacher and the Kids Heart Challenge Coordinator at Bolivar-Richburg Elementary, commented, “Our kids did it again! I am amazed at the outpouring of support the Kids Heart Challenge campaign has received again this year from the community. This program is an excellent way for students to learn about their health, and it also teaches them about helping others and making a difference.”
