Dr. David Toot will present on February 20

From Grace United Church,

On the afternoon of April 8, 2024, there will be a total eclipse of the sun.  Wellsville is very near the path of totality.  If you have never experienced a total eclipse, this is one event you won’t want to miss.  But what’s the best way to view it?  And where should we go to see it?

Dr. David Toot, professor emeritus of astronomy at Alfred University, will present a program Tuesday, February 20th, at Grace United Church as part of the Tuesdays with Grace program.  He will explain the science behind eclipses, what they show us about the sun, and how we can safely observe it ourselves.

Dr. Toot is a solar physicist and has spent over 37 years studying the sun and teaching astronomy at the Stull Observatory.  He led a trip to Missouri in 2017 to view the last total eclipse visible in the U.S.  His program will be geared to the general public.

There will be a light lunch served at 12:30 with the program following at 1 pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend, and no reservations are required.  Grace United Church is at 289 North Main Street in Wellsville.
