Jones Memorial Medical Imaging Director, Jen Frungillo and Lead Mammo Tech, Dionne Rifenburg, are excited to welcome patients to the new mammography suite at Jones

From Jones Memorial,

Jones Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that they will be bringing mammography services back to Allegany County in February 2024.

Says Jim Helms, CEO at Jones, “While we appreciate the support over the last few years form our affiliate and partner, St. James, together we agree that to maximize early detection, both facilities need to provide these services.” He went on to state, “In fact, we intend to make advancements to the prior service and install a 3D tomosynthesis unit. This tool improves the ability of mammography to detect early breast cancers and decreases the number of women “called back” for additional tests for findings that are not cancer.”

Between 2017-2019, according to NYS Department of Health, almost 25% of women in NY diagnosed with breast cancers died from their disease. Over 35% of cancers found were already in late stage when diagnosed. With this initiative, Jones Memorial is committed to improving these statistics for our community.

The new machine will be delivered to the hospital in January and will be available to the public in mid-February.
