Western Equestrian team opens season with strong showing

Members of the Alfred State western equestrian team display their awards from their season opening competition

ALFRED, NY, October 2, 2023 – The Alfred State western equestrian team had a strong showing on Saturday when they opened the 2023-24 season. The team finished as the reserve hi-point team in both the AM and PM shows.

Ashley Wolfe led the way for Alfred State by earning hi-point rider honors in both shows. She was 1^st in reining and 3^rd in open horsemanship in the morning and 1^st in reining and 1^st in open horsemanship in the afternoon.

Jordan Henry was 1^st in beginner horsemanship in the morning, Erika Hepler was 2^nd in beginner horsemanship in the morning, while Abby Thomas was 3^rd in beginner in the AM and 2^nd in the afternoon.

Laura Mills was 3^rd in beginner horsemanship in the morning and 4^th in the afternoon while Brynn Scholl was 5^th in beginner in the afternoon.

The event was held at Alfred University’s Bromeley-Daggett Equestrian Center at Maris Cuneo Equine Park.

ASC will return to AU on Nov. 11^th for their next competition.
