Western Equestrian team opens season with strong showing

Members of the Alfred State western equestrian team display their awards from their season opening competition

ALFRED, NY, October 2, 2023 – The Alfred State western equestrian team had a strong showing on Saturday when they opened the 2023-24 season. The team finished as the reserve hi-point team in both the AM and PM shows.

Ashley Wolfe led the way for Alfred State by earning hi-point rider honors in both shows. She was 1st in reining and 3rd in open horsemanship in the morning and 1st in reining and 1st in open horsemanship in the afternoon.

Jordan Henry was 1st in beginner horsemanship in the morning, Erika Hepler was 2nd in beginner horsemanship in the morning, while Abby Thomas was 3rd in beginner in the AM and 2nd in the afternoon.

Laura Mills was 3rd in beginner horsemanship in the morning and 4th in the afternoon while Brynn Scholl was 5th in beginner in the afternoon.

The event was held at Alfred University’s Bromeley-Daggett Equestrian Center at Maris Cuneo Equine Park.

ASC will return to AU on Nov. 11th for their next competition.
