Wellsville burglar and arsonist appear in court, fugitive from justice held

Assistant District Attorney Ian M. Jones prosecuting,

Defendant’s Name:  Jarrette LaFlash

Address:  Wellsville, New York       

Charges:      Burglary 3rd (D felony)
Criminal Mischief 3rd (E felony)
Petit Larceny (A misdemeanor)

Court Appearance Date:  September 27, 2023

Proceedings:  Jarrette LaFlash was arraigned in Allegany County Court for an alleged burglary that took place in the Village of Wellsville.  LaFlash plead not guilty to all charges, but requested that he be assigned a new attorney in the case.  Further proceedings were scheduled for October 11, 2023, and LaFlash will continue to be held in the Allegany County Jail.

Defendant’s Name:  Jessica L. Morrison

Address:  Wellsville, New York       

Charges:      Arson 2nd (B felony)
Reckless Endangerment 1st (D felony)
Criminal Mischief 2nd (D felony)             

Court Appearance Date:  September 27, 2023

Proceedings:    Motions were heard today in Allegany County Court in the matter of The People vs. Jessica L. Morrison.  Morrison is accused of setting fire to a building in the Village of Wellsville, causing a total loss.  As requested in the motion papers, a Huntley hearing and a Wade hearing will be held on January 10, 2024.  The Huntley hearing will determine the admissibility at trial of the defendant’s statements to law enforcement.  The Wade hearing will determine if law enforcement used proper identification procedures.  Following these hearings it is anticipated that a trial date will be scheduled.

Defendant’s Name:  Joshua Pingie

Address:  Belmont, New York       

Charges:  Fugitive from Justice

Court Appearance Date:  September 28, 2023

Proceedings:  Joshua Pingie was apprehended by the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office as a fugitive from justice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  Pingie appeared in court and waived formal extradition proceedings, allowing for him to be transported back to PA.  Pingie will remain in the Allegany County Jail until picked up by Pennsylvania authorities.
