Bonus: Why Diggs versus Diggs won’t happen this season
By V-Ry the Sports Guy, pictured Terrel Bernard celebrates forced turnover
The Good
The Bills’ defense was downright dominant recording 9 sacks which is the second most for a single game in franchise history. Leonard Floyd and Ed Oliver have been relentless pass rushers so far this season in the absence of Von Miller. It also appears that the future is now at middle linebacker with Terrel Bernard tallying 7 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 interception, and 1 fumble recovery. Quite a stat line for a third round pick as a first year starter and defensive signal caller.
The Bad
It may seem overly critical but for the Bills’ offense to only score 10 points off of 5 turnovers is not great efficiency. Also, dropped balls by Gabriel Davis is an unacceptable trend rearing its ugly head again.
The Ugly
As a first year starting quarterback in the NFL there will be growing pains especially when facing a stout veteran defense. Commanders’ quarterback Sam Howell ran into a buzz saw against the Bills in just the third game of the season. Great coverage and overwhelming pressure by the Bills’ defense caused Howell to hold the ball and make errant throws leading to 9 sacks and 4 interceptions.
Terrel Bernard Recognized
While Tremaine Edmunds is languishing in Chicago, his replacement Terrel Bernard is thriving in Buffalo. Bernard has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his epic performance against the Commanders. The Baylor product was the first linebacker since 2007 to record 2 sacks, an interception, and a fumble recovery in a single game. Bernard is in rare company with Hall of Fame linebacker Brian Urlacher who was the last to accomplish the feat.
Diggs v. Diggs
In what should be an intriguing contest, the Bills play host to the Cowboys on December 17th. Both teams are very talented and should be firmly in the playoff race at that point. However, the much anticipated Stefon Diggs versus Trevon Diggs matchup won’t be happening . Unfortunately, Trevon is done for the season after tearing an ACL in practice last week.
