Free historical program in Whitesville will look back at Railroad Postal Service

Learn about RPS circa 1901 until 1917 and what it was like to be a mail clerk

This Program gives an insight on how the Railroad Postal service was formed, what life was like as a Mail Clerk.  The program is divided into 5 sections and lasts roughly 40 minutes.   

1.) Overview of the Railroad Mail Service

2.) Talk about William Stuart – it’s his diary entries referring to his beginning as a RPO clerk

3.) Cameron Mills — taken from the Sept 1948 Railroad Magazine, small town along an RPO in Steuben County.  

 4.) Harold Kane, of Westfield, Pa.  — a RPO clerk in 1949 working in the Cleveland to Cincinnati RPO run.

 5.) Railway Post Office on the NY&P Railway from 1901 until 1917.
