A film about the hunt for the Allentown NY school time capsule

By Andrew Harris

The director of this film, David Manzo, has some interesting family history in Allentown. His genes run back in time when Allentown was oil and gas boom town and the Vincent family was a top producer. A big part of this film, and the journey it documents includes David’s aunt and uncle, Diana and John Embser of Wellsville.

After talking with Manzo today, his journey in the little Allegany County town brought his roots to the big screen in a very unusual way. It starts with a search for a time capsule entombed on the grounds of the long abandoned Allentown school. I’m not about to spoil a great story so I’ll stop there and let you find out more about the background by visiting the film website below.

If you love Allegany County history, oil and gas lore, or have strong ties to Allentown NY this is a must see. According to Manzo, this film is full of local charactars that many will know, even those who are no longer with us.

The film is still in the editing phase and requires more capital to polish to Hollywood quality. In the meantime Manzo wants to give the locals a chance to see his work well before any fancy film premiere. Here is the teaser for “Finding Time:”

The David A. Howe Library has made a generous use the Nancy Howe Auditorium for two nights, this Friday and Saturday nights, July 21 & 22. The event is free and for just a small $5 donation toward funding of the film guests receive a snack pack. The show starts a 7pm and depending on the weather, seating could be limited. In other words, if the balloons don’t launch, this could be a packed house on either night.

If you can’t make it be sure to share this news with the history lover in your family, certainly anyone interested in Allentown NY history.

More about the film and Philadelphia based filmaker who has dedicated more than a decade to the journey and the film. Findingtimefilm.com
